St Martin's Lane- she is so young and fresh, and you see her background as a dancer. She isn't great but she moves well, and you can see the ballet training.
Caesar and Cleopatra- really love the kittenish young Queen , a perfect Presentation of the Cleopatra Shaw wrote. Wouldn't you have killed to see Vivian Leigh as Liza Doolittle in Pygmalion? Hiller was great but Ohhh Vivian....
Ship of Fools- its acting school, a presentation of brilliant technique in service of a complex character
That Hamilton Woman- at her most charming, full of love for Olivier , their best film together...
Waterloo Bridge - a film made 3 times but Vivian is the best version of this character. You get the fragility that drives her into prostitution. The scene where she tells the mother in law the truth is harrowing.
Anna Karenina- far and away my favorite version. It really gives you time with Anna and Vronsky , and again , her great charm is on full display in service to the character. She was quite ill at this time and that plays a part, giving an Edge to Anna, as she becomes less and less sure of Vronsky.
