... and some announced movies aren't included such as 'Cyborg' and 'Deathstroke'.
TEXT:
While holding a panel at Comic Con Experience 2017 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Warner Bros. revealed its upcoming DC Comics-based movies that fans can expect to see; this included films that have been expected for a while, and the absence of several key projects.
A Wonder Woman sequel was the first to be presented with a title card, though it opted to not title itself “Wonder Woman 2,” leading us to believe the film will ultimately be titled something else. A title card for Aquaman soon followed, which makes sense as it’s Warner Bros.’ next DC release.
Other title cards displayed at the convention included Flashpoint, Suicide Squad 2, Shazam, Batgirl, Green Lantern Corps, The Batman, and somewhat surprisingly, Justice League Dark. It’s possible that these movies are those that have been confirmed to be moving ahead at the studio, with it hoping to redeem itself after the critical and financial failure of Justice League.
...It’s a promising sign that the studio is finally establishing a long-term creative vision. That’s in spite of recent reports another corporate restructure is in the works. We wouldn’t be expecting Warner Bros. to push their film slate unless they felt it wouldn’t be affected by the restructure.
That said, it’s interesting to note the studio hasn’t greenlit any other projects since July. There’s no mention of Cyborg, Deathstroke, Gotham City Sirens, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, or the two Joker films believed to be in the works. Now, it’s perhaps understandable that Martin Scorsese’s Joker origin movie would be omitted from the list. The film won’t be set in the DCEU, so we wouldn’t really expect it to appear in the DCEU slate. But the other omissions are far more surprising. It suggests that, for all the rumors and news, none of these movies have actually progressed beyond initial discussions. We may well see a few of these projects dropped.

What they have scheduled isn't anywhere near as important as who they hire to make it and whether the suits can be trusted to keep their input to a minimum.

I mean seriously, stave off Suicide Squad 2 for a while and replace it with that. I'm sure Jai Courtney will find work playing douche bags else where in the meantime.

They aren't doing "Gotham Sirens"...well the upside to that is that they won't cast some 25 year old as Catwoman that we'll have to reconcile with Affleck's Batman.

Why aren't they moving forward with a Man of Steel sequel since Superman now is acting like Superman should be? Come on, we've yet to see Brainiac in a movie yet, his rogues gallery is more than Zod and Luthor.

They need to release the new slate and release dates because I'm completely lost on what's supposed to be coming out when now.

I'm going to say this one more time. Superman isn't as big as you think. If he was actually the number one or two most popular superhero, there would be nothing standing in their way. The problem is, even though everybody knows who he is, everybody also thinks he's boring as fuck. Please understand this, and stop being so surprised.

It's so weird, because every now and then they'll come out and mop the floor and fans give them a standing ovation for it. And now they want the mop to be called flashpoint.

Superman II had genuine characterization issues, like how Superman is hardly heroic, and Superman 3 and 4 were just trainwrecks. Superman Returns suffered from a Director who didn't care about the character and just wanted to do a Love Letter to Richard Donner.

But if people want it and if a compelling story can be created, then what's the hold up? Why did it take decades to follow up on Reeve's films? What's the hold up now? BVS was supposed to MOS2 so why did they need Batman to rescue him?

The bottom line is the character is overpowered and it's hard to work him into a standard action story. You could go in a wild new direction and make the story more cerebral, but average filmgoers would be confused and wonder why Superman isn't just flying around punching stuff. It's a lose/lose with that character. I was excited to see Superman finally acting like Superman in Justice League (you know, smiling, helping people, happy to be a hero) and even then he sucked the tension out of the film by being too powerful for the villain. You know what would be great? Go cosmic with him, like Marvel did with Thor. That could work, and you could really have fun as he goes into different star systems-- not all of which feature a yellow sun.

That's too bad. I'm not a hardcore DC fan so I don't know what Cyborg is like in the comics or other related media, but I was pleasantly surprised with his character in the JL movie. I was actually looking forward to his solo film, I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

People forget (ok filmmakers and studios) that as a Kryptonian, Superman is just as intelligent as he's strong. That's how he's a good journalist and investigative reporter. But this is generally toned down to play up Batman's genius (and even then, he's not even the smartest DC human). If someone learned to balance out the action with a solid mystery/conspiracy angle, that'd make for a good sequel. If that cannot be accomplished, I'd love it if he went cosmic too. I typed a hypothetical sequel where he helps Supergirl save Argo City from Mongul's War World and Brainiac. Something grand and operatic like that would be amazing.

If you go cosmic, which is a lot easier now due to improved FX Tech, it could solve problems.
You could have him go to a world with a Red Sun, so he loses his powers and we get to see him use his mind to win. And it's not something the Reeves' movies did so it's a new scenario.

Earthbound Superman stories aren't that easy to do even when he IS the only superhero on the planet (Donner) and he's only ever had 1 good Earthbound movie anyways.
