Hopefully Last Jedi will have this for this week and it's possible it may given the early reactions to it. The critic reviews tomorrow will, hopefully, add more fuel to the burning fire already for it.
Anyways, what do you think is the last film to have massive hype for it and actually live up to it?
The Dark Knight is one that seems to just pop into my head.

The Dark Knight is one that seems to just pop into my head. I don't know about TLJ, i keep my expectations in check. After all, it's a sequel to Force Awakens. Before that i think Rogue One lived up to the hype

The Dark Knight The Avengers The Hateful Eight Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Suicide Squad Yeah, everyone said BvS and SS were terrible movies and they were. I guess they lived up to their hype.

I remember how pumped I was to see The Departed. It had some of my favorite actors and one of my favorite Directors. I actually was looking forward to it for a while and thought it would be amazing. Normally, when this happens, I get let down. However, this was the rare time where the movie was even better than I thought it would be.

The Dark Knight for sure. everything about that film is perfect.
Avatar imo was such a great experience in IMAX 3D (saw it twice in IMAX 3D it was that good) so I'll add that one as well.
Most recently? Probably Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant. Both of these films were by all accounts absolutely hell to film but came out brilliantly .

"Mad Max: Fury Road" sprung to mind immediately.
I LOVED "The Road Warrior." Was very skeptical of the idea of a remake (retelling? sequel? I dunno...), despite really liking Theron and Hardy. I loved "Fury Road." I didn't think they could get that post-apocalyptic thing the 80's did so well, but they did...and they turbocharged the hell out it.
