This has been expected for a long time, but even so, it is still a sad occasion.

... not surprising, given how age and health issues had forced him to step aside, but still very unfortunate news. Osborne's introductory and concluding comments framed films on Turner Classic Movies beautifully—they were sometimes as worth seeing as the films themselves. On television, at least, his low-key presence epitomized grace, class, and warmth—qualities that are too scarce in today's self-aggrandizing era. And of course, his knowledge was vast.

RIP and thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion for film. In addition, I highly enjoyed his book 85 Years of the Oscar: The Official History of the Academy Awards, a must read for film fans.

I knew something was wrong when Ben Mankoweicz replaced him last year, I didn't know exactly when it happened but it finally dawned on me that we never saw Robert. I was afraid this was coming, so sad.

I'm sorry to hear that he died. He was a good host on TCM. I liked his introduction and closing comments to movies on TCM. I noticed that he wasn't on TCM as much last year. I assumed that he was having some health problems. I wish that he could have hosted TCM for at least a few more years. TCM won't be the same without him.

In the '70's, when I was working in radio in San Francisco, Mr. Osborne made several guest appearances on the station.
When our crew did a week-long "remote" broadcast, from Hollywood, Mr. Osborne was was of enormous help with guest-contacts, establishing logistics ... and just being available to offer suggestions about details that might not have occurred to us.
I'm so sorry that we have lost him. But, I'm so happy to have those memories of him.
R.I.P., Mr. Osborne. And, thank you.

I received his first Oscar book in 1969 for my birthday. It was the only source I had for listing all nominees for years. It was was my prized possession.

R.I.P. Robert Osborne. I enjoyed his introductions on TCM a great deal, plus his interviews and his vast knowledge. I will miss him.
I just came from checking the front page at IMDb ( I do this daily) and there is not a single word about Osborne's death.

I really miss him. Something about his voice was oddly comforting to me, a connection I haven't made yet with his successor. RIP Robert and say hello to Paul Newman for me.

Robert Osborne was a class act, I enjoyed hanging out with his interviews and commentaries just as much as I enjoyed watching the films.
They still haven't found a good enough replacement. Can't we just computer generate him and install him there forever.

Damn! That is very sad news. First I had a personal loss. Then Bill Paxton and now Robert Osborne. 2017 has been very disheartening so far. Osborne was the definition of class and exposed countless numbers of people to great classic films. He will truly be missed.
RIP Robert Osborne
