i say it's probably a great thing that the son of god got the hell out of here long before america came along because even he isn't packing the size of dong republicans are waving in front of each other.

Hmmm, just noticed that, if you remove the 'l', republicans becomes re-pubic-ans.  it's incredible that in the twenty-first century the power of bible-babble can influence people in elections. we truly live in a time of ridiculously ignorant humans.

That's for sure and for certain, sadly. I wish I understood why. Do they stay ignorant because it's what they know and are used to, and logical analysis is too much effort? Are they scared by the thought that there is no 'sky father' and therefore no plan, no afterlife, just the here and now? And their here and now sucks, and there is no heavenly reward to look forward to?

They are looking for an excuse and out to believe in something, to absolve them from their own suffering and purpose of being here in this realm. If they accept Jesus as dying for their sins, then they don't have to take responsibility for their own actions. They get to pass the buck. If there is an afterlife, at least they get to go there because they followed Christs lead.
