I really did enjoy it. It was a very fun action romp, with the vibe of just a well done action blockbuster. In its own way it felt kind of folklore-ish too, like we were watching a betime story being told by a father to his son, full of mystical characters, heros and villains, and supernatural elements. I really dug how each of the major character had his own fighting style, look, and weapons. Haven't seen anything like that in a while. I'm flabbergasted just how fast Miike is able to pump out films, especially given that many of them seem to surely take a lot of time and work into filming. For example, BOTI has numerous scenes of a guy fighting around 100 people at a time, and the choreography is on point - I didn't notice any errors with fighters knocked over by the wind (looking at you, The Dark Knight Rises) or swords clearly not connecting. Overall this was a very good film. If you want a proper review of it (with a few minor spoilers - mainly for the opening scene) here is my review for it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRW2w0uioGwHere's to the next 100 Miike movies!
