I'm just out of the loop on this one as I never read the book, and don't really get the trailer; However, it is a Spielberg project, and it reminds me sort of of an out-of-left-field Avatar event type film.
So what say you? It's gonna fly high (and what would you guess U.S. domestic and Worldwide) or is this gonna flop?

A few years ago I'd say that because it's Spielberg, it'd probably do fine but THE BFG (2016) has since quashed that notion.

The public loves member berries. People will eat this film up. What does member berries have to do with this?

It was just bad timing when it was released and because it didn't too well at the BO, doesn't mean that it wasn't worthy. Β Oh I liked it too but still, to bean-counters everywhere it did show that just because his name is on it, won't make it a blockbuster success.

You won't find a bigger Spielberg fan than I am, but this looks like crap.

What does member berries have to do with this? ...everything? The car from Back to the Future, The Iron Giant, King Kong, and Freddy Krueger just to name a few in the trailer. plus Chucky, Tracer, and I think Harley Quinn are in the second one.

You won't find a bigger Spielberg fan than I am, but this looks like crap. Couldn't agree more. I love pretty much everything from Spielberg and many of his films are on my top 50 but this...Spielberg is better than this. I lied to myself while watching the first trailer and said it looked fine but no, it looks like shit. I got through half of the second trailer before turning it off.

Has anyone even gotten a trailer for this yet in the theater? It's coming out in three months.

When I see this "slums" in the trailer albeit it is quite near in the future, I'm out...it is not plausible to me how the US or the Western civilization should fall that soon that deep, and more so: if everything is down, how should this high speed internet be kept alive: the infrastructure, the production of new hardware (a foundry for chips costs billions!), the energy...where should this all come from?!

Stuff like that I chalk up to "It must be in the book or something". Or just a plot hole.

Maybe a TV show which has the time to explain the background of this world would be better...but movie often are too limited in this regard.

Budget 175m needs to make 400m Worldwide to break even WB, ffs. 'Go for broke' is just an idiom. It's not a business model. Pan, Jupiter Ascending, The Legend of Tarzan, and now Justice League.... did I forget something?
