All it feels like is a bunch of stuff that you can't interact with, it's like you can see the matrix all around you when you play it. I dunno if that makes sense to yall. You know what I mean right? The better the graphics are the more it feels that way to me. So at this point the graphics are going downhill? To me yes. Have for some time now.

I get what you're saying. I suggest maybe try Fallout 4. You can interact with a lot of the objects in the game.
As far as I can remember you can mess around with most things on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild.

Prettier eye candy I've found always introduced as background wallpaper, or worse cut scenes & intros.

I 'd have to go ahread and disagree that they have been doing that forever though: They have games like tie fighter where literally the only things you see on screen are things you can interact with, and there's other simpler games like galaga which is like that also.

I remember my friend and I were hyped for Star Wars The Force Unleashed because reading about it made it seem like you were able to interact with anything. Playing the game was a let down but maybe my teenage self was expecting too much.
But I'm fine with not being able to interact with things in a game. I imagine if you played Grand Theft Auto V and you were able to go into every and any building it would be kinda cool. But would that matter an hour after you discover that? It might make the game a little better but at the cost of the game being massive. That would probably make the game the size of an MMO. It would be neat to mess with anything in a game but it is asking for a lot today. But if that's something you really want you should but Fallout 4 where you can pick up a lot of the objects in the game and you can delete things and make stuff. There's also Battlefeild 1 where you can destroy whole buildings!

I feel like, the better they make the graphics, the more noticeable it is that you can't interact with anything. The more stuff on the screen that looks awesome, the more lame the game is going to be, lol. Does that even make sense, I hope so. Like, how do I even say what I am trying to say here. At this point all they can improve on I feel, is the graphics, but that doesn't make the game any better obviously(I know i'm stating the obvious here) so at this point there is no room for improvement in video games?(I know, I just said something shocking, sorry) I tend to th ink so.

I remember when I first played Playstation 1, there were a lot of games where you could just walk around in room after room doing nothing. There are stll games like that only with better graphics. That's not my idea of fun.

YOu know I could have just said, I don't like newer games and that would have been simpler.

Maybe this explains what I even mean take a look at these two footages from youtube:
They both have flying sections in it, yet the older game is still way better, even though graphically it objectively sucks. It might help compare them by having the two videos side by side like I did here, I dunno. This version is better though:

Here's another example, the first one has newer improved graphics and just a lot of stuff in the background that you can't interact with, that doesn't add anything, imo to the game, just as the earlier examples:

And here as you'll see, the top one has a lot of improved graphics some might say, however it adds nothing to the 'game' and how much larger the world is doesn't add anything to the game either imo. And once again it's all stuff you cannot interact with that doesn't really add anything to the 'game' part of it. Just start at 31:40 and for the bottom one 3:55 to see similar parts of the games at once.

I tend to think they're doing it wrong. Ah these developers today don't know what they are doing.

That sounds more like a game-play problem rather than graphics.
And I suspect it's more to do with the corporations that have taken over most of the smaller game studios, and are milking them for profits rather than making quality.
The ending of Mass Effect 3, Andromeda, Assassin's Creed series and so forth are examples of that.
An example of the opposite, a company that cares for the product and make quality is Witcher 3. Great graphics, great game.
