George Lucas has seen "STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI" and He thought that it was "Beautifully Made".

Apparently there was this small caveat. TEXT: Lucas does have one minor complaint, though. “We went into [The Last Jedi] saying we’re going to do matte paintings and we’re going to be hanging miniatures,” said The Last Jedi production designer (and Academy Award winner) Rick Heinrichs. “That’s the way we’re going to do this cause that’s what George would want. And of course George visited and he’s like, ‘Why are you building all these sets?’ ‘Well, because that’s what you like, isn’t it?’ He’s a cranky guy, but his point is that for the big stuff, obviously planets, spaceships flying, when you’re not close enough to see actors in it, there isn’t much point anymore in actually building something.” uproxx.com/hitfix/george-lucas-star-wars-the-last-jedi-criticism/

Of course he would say that. There is this thing called "common curtesy." He's not just going to come out and say the movie sucks even if he really thinks so.

I'll bet at least someone here watched the ending of The Force Awakens either tonight or just recently. Come on. Admit it.

And I doubt he'd tell Rian Johnson if Rian made a superior film to any of his prequels or even his original film (let alone if it was on par with it). I'm sure he didn't say anything like that to Irvin Kershner after watching Empire Strikes Back.

Didnt Lucas say (a few years back) he felt most disappointed with Empire? I have the Making of souvenir magazine from 1980 and he compared it to a silent movie at the time.
There's a picture of ILM people making Star Destroyer greebles and they are dressed in hazmat suits as they do it. I dont know if they did that as a joke or the glue was so toxic they had to.

Yeah well he likes it because it’s more similar to the prequels

I wonder how Empire would have turned out if Lucas had directed.

"Beautifully made" = Hollywoodspeak for "good LORD, that was a piece of shit..."
