Only for people who have seen both movies. Which one do you prefer? I like TFA, but imo The Last Jedi is just on a whole other level. I can understand how someone could prefer TFA because TLJ introduces many new things that not everyone may like, but my vote easily goes to TLJ. I love the structure of TLJ, it feels different from all the other Star Wars movies.

TLJ. Like TFA, it falls into the same trap of copying the OT, but takes a left turn in the third act I enjoyed.

The Last Jedi, although the whole Canto Bight thing was dumb. But then we might not have gotten DJ.

While I have overall mixed emotions about it, I have to go with The Last Jedi. While it lifts elements from The Empire Strikes Back, it at least has some decent moments, Mark Hamill's presence and puts the characters in new situations. Plus, that Star Destroyer being split in two is a nice shot!
Two years later and The Force Awakens remains a frustrating film for me. 30 years after Return of the Jedi and.....the same old shit is happening? They had plenty of different ways to continue the story and they remade A New Hope? I liked seeing Harrison Ford back as Han Solo (he did a good job) and the new characters (Rey, Finn, Kylo) are fine, but the story around them just reeks of laziness and creative bankruptcy. In turn, The Force Awakens sets a poor foundation for the succeeding episodes and everything wrong with them is due to this film.
Bash the prequels all you want (and I acknowledge their flaws), but at least they were their own series and didn't try to copy stuff from the other films.

Those are my 2 least two favorite Star Wars films but The Force Awakens didnt butcher Luke Skywalker or have Rose. So The Force Awakens wins my vote.

While I think The Last Jedi was a better made film, TFA was more fun & enjoyable experience.

I prefer TFA. Sure, it was deja vu all over again. Sure, it looked like there was somebody on set with a clipboard, making sure to check off all possible elements from the original trilogy. Sure, it was basically a remake of "A New Hope". But its heart was in the right place; it came across as a love letter to the original trilogy.
On the other hand, TLJ was like a poison pen letter to the original trilogy. It disregarded decades of continuity, destroyed the character of Luke Skywalker, and in general sh!t all over everything I loved about Star Wars.

I agree with pretty much everything you say here.
