Colleen Celeste Camp was widely tipped when I was a kid to be the next comedic superstar and saw featured profiles in all the major movie magazines. Born June 7th, 1953 in San Francisco, California, a fiercely intelligent, multi-character gemini who fully recognised the artistic ambition of the happenin' Bay Area, she surely had it all. She didn't always turn out for requested interviews but was a hard worker. The roll call of talented filmmakers who've actively sought her out is admirable, yet, for the most part, she's always been pigeon-holed as an eccentric character player. She can sing, dance and exercise, she's got a way with wording, she's still appearing in great movies, and her physical skills have never been in question. Why do you think Colleen Camp didn't become a comedic superstar?
Colleen Camp & Sondra Locke play the 'Death Game'
Thanks!

All I know is she looked damn good in a French maid uniform in Clue. Awesome comedy from the great British comedy filmmaker Jonathan Lynn! Here's Colleen Camp early in her career in Jack Hill's 'The Swinging Cheerleaders' (1974) ...

Just a few more of her many acting roles... In 1981, she guest starred as a criminal on an episode of "The Dukes of Hazzard", who tries to trick Cooter. In 1983, she starred as "Dusty Trails" in "Smokey and the Bandit Part 3". In 1984, she guest starred on an episode of "Magnum, P.I.", pretending to be Robin Master's Assistant. In 1985 & 1987, she starred as "Sgt. Kathleen Kirkland-Tackleberry" in "Police Academy" 2 & 4. In 1995, she starred as "Connie Kowalski" in "Die Hard with a Vengeance"In 1997, she starred as "Debbie" in "Speed 2: Cruise Control"

She also was the first actress to play Kristin Shepard (Sue Ellen's sister) on Dallas in 1979. Mary Crosby was later cast in the role.

And let's not forget her small role in Apocalypse Now as a playmate entertaining the troops.

And her role as a hippie mom in Valley Girl alongside Apocalypse Now co-star Frederic Forrest. I thought she was going to ascend career-wise when she starred in Peter Bogdanovich's comedy favourite 'Illegally Yours' (1988) but then the tabolid scandal hit concerning the actions of Rob Lowe of Ohio and all hell broke loose. It's like Camp's mega-career was derailed just as it started, through no fault of her own. She's a major performance talent who can do it all, always has been.

I have had Death Game saved for a while. Need to check it out soon (not a fan of Sandra Locke but since Camp is in it..).
I remembered her from Apocalypse Now (the one with the western outfit) and wondered who she was in Die Hard 3 since she was obviously a veteran performer by then but I didnt recognize her either.
Last time I saw her was as a nymphomaniac real estate agent in the Vagrant 1992 and at first I thought she was Ann Dusenberry, another one who seemed destined for bigger things.

I couldn't even guess. She's had a very prolific career though, and it is still going strong. I mainly know her from The DOH episode "Trouble at Cooter's", the Police Academy movies and especially The Gumball Rally (1976)
. She has a very small role in that, but manages to be memorable. She has very expressive eyes and a sexy voice. I've wondered why a costar in TGR, Joanne Nail, didn't have more of a career, let alone go on to bigger stardom. She was the lead in Jack Hill's Switchblade Sisters (1975).
Looking at Colleen's filmography has made me want to see Winter of Frozen Dreams (2009), with Thora Birch and Keith Carradine.

She was pretty hot, especially in Clue(1985)--but about 10 years ago or so, she gained a huge amount of weight

I never realized that was her in Die Hard 3. Wow. I have to agree with those statements regarding Clue. Two big reasons I loved that movie as a kid... ha
