Do you mean zero chemistry with Finn as a possible romantic interest or even as a friend? As a romantic interest, which was the angle they were aiming for. Felt forced and uncomfortable I’m thinking it was left open-ended. Like Finn and Rey at the end of TFA. Even as Rey looked at Finn and Rose together, she gave a look which could be construed as jealousy. The studios love this. There’s buzz as to who is going to partner up in the next Mcstallment.

There was the same buzz about Finn and Poe having some gay feelings for each other after TFA but they quenched that in TLJ to stop it going full sjw lol.

Oh they haven’t fully dispelled that possibility. I’m sure they want to keep all options open to draw attention from every demographic. At this rate they’ll be scared of any definitive romance and no one will end up with anyone.

That was far more definitive than Rey's kissing peck on the forehead. More definitive than Rey and Kylo's constant hand touching. And clearly the biggest romantic move made yet in this trilogy. Still I agree with you. By the end of episode 9 it will probably be a bunch of ambiguous nothing burgers.

I liked Rose. She had heart and determination. Her kiss with Finn came out of nowhere though. That said, I loved the backdrop of the shield door explosion. I think she Jar-Jarred a potentially cool scene. Imagine if Finn had sacrificed himself destroying that super-cannon. I bet we all would have liked the film better had it happened. It definitely would have been effective, but kind of repetitive since Laura Dern basically did the same thing 5 minutes earlier.

That was one of the main points of the movie. You don't win wars by sacrificing yourself like a kamikaze. You live to fight another day. Like in the beginning when Poe sacrificed their whole bomber fleet to take out one ship. Finn's sacrifice would not have stopped the First Order from winning that battle.

I didn't mind her as a character until the end when she spoiled what would've been a cool ending for Finn (who was a MUCH better character in this movie).

Oh IDK maybe by saying that the only way people could be rich enough to party on casino planet was by selling weapons to the First Order. She didn’t seem too cut up about trampling the casino with huge beasts, no doubt injuring some innocents. Her hate for them came more from the slave kids of which she use to be one. The weapons dealing was an excuse. I think she'd find any excuse to hate them. Notice she got quiet about the weapons dealing when DJ showed her her face about who buys from them. Exactly! So many of these folks that complain about movies never look any further than the surface.

Rose is a great new character. An average person who is capable of great things. One of the running themes of the Star Wars franchise.

As someone who really liked TLJ there's no denying that Rose is a ugly fuck up that should've never happened. And as someone who was meh on Rey in TFA, I actually really liked her in this one but every other newly added female character (Penis Nose, Purple Bitch and the Asian fuck up) are just god awful. I hope the two remaining either die really early on in the next movie or have next to zero of a role to play.

She goes with the theme of the movie of leaving your past behind or it will consume you.

Rose sucked, the whole Finn/Rose subplot sucked, so many rebels dead because of them--No wonder the RT Audience score is at an awful 56% for this movie as opposed to 88% for TFA

I agree. Here's the thing though. The main reason why it doesn't work is because they never took the time to set it up properly. Sure, Finn and Rose get along as they embark on their mission, but I saw zero signs of any romantic interest between them. At best, one could speculate that Rose's excitement over meeting Finn could possibly lead somewhere down the road. Rian definitely made sure they got along, which is why I bought Finn demanding that DJ give back Rose's jewelry, but I agree that her kiss came out of nowhere...

It doesn't work because Rose isn't in Finn's league. Pure and simple. And that's not saying much because Finn isn't what I'd call a looker.
