Heard Bill Simmons' latest pod with his NY buddie Jack-O... who chimed that Jeter has been the most competitive person in sports next to Jordan. Thankfully Bill had none of it & threw the hammer down making light of what a stupid statement that is. Jeter more competitive than Kobe? Brady?? LeBron??? Peyton? I mean... Jeter wasn't even the most competitive guy in his lineup most of the time. (O'Neill, Teixeira, Clemens, Rivera, etc) What does that even mean? How does one define the "most competitive" person in sports? Pretty sure by and large all professional athletes are pretty competitive other than fat slobs like Jamarcus Russell, the sometimes lazy like Yoenis Cespedes and Matt Kemp, etc. To take it a step further, I'm not sure what your response means either. How can one say Jeter is more or less competitive than Paul O'Neill or Mark Teixeira? Is O'Neill more competitive because he was a hot-headed asshole who wore his emotions on his sleeve? Is Jeter more competitive than Teixeira, a guy who literally never showed any emotion ever? I think it's kind of a silly position to take one way or another. It's a "conversation" that really can have no meaning because there are no ways to put parameters on it. Jordan - competitive Dwight Howard - hilariously not I've got my reasons. Jeter is of course very competitive, personally he's not nearly as crazed as Jordan as that Jack-O guy made him, not I.

How can you make the distinction one way or another between Jeter, ONeill, Teixeira, etc.? I'm genuinely asking.

The latter guys would probably cut someone's throat to win. Jeter is more gracious. Or maybe Jeter isn't as competitive to literally try to murder someone which I wasn't implying lols.

My take is my own. I didn't say one way or another about Jeter. I was just curious as to how someone defines that. Your take is your own, I respect it, but I think the concept of "competitive" goes beyond simply wanting to kill someone in the name of victory. Jordan is a great example. Yeah, he'd kill to win, but he also tirelessly worked at improving his game, studied film, studied his opponents, etc. Todd Bertuzzi literally tried to kill someone during the game...is he the most competitive player ever?

Speaking of most competitive people and 'killing to win' - old saying in life - if you ain't cheatin' you're not tryin'
I view cheaters as some of the most competitive figures out there too.
Antonio Margarito actually put cement in his boxing gloves to butcher Miguel Cotto's face - Cotto's face looked like it was sliced up by a deli slicer after the fight:
speaking of cheating and doing anything to win - here's Hollywood Hogan trying to throw a fireball flame in Warriors face - then his nephew Horace comes out and hits Warrior with a chair. talk about doing what it takes to win!
