Annette Marie Sarah Kellermann (1887 –1975) was an Australian professional swimmer, vaudeville star, film actress, writer, and business owner. Famous for her early Hollywood aquatic themed films, as the star of A Daughter of the Gods (1916) she was the first major actress to appear nude in a Hollywood production. Kellermann was one of the first women to wear a one-piece bathing costume, instead of the then-accepted pantaloons, and inspired others to follow her example. her swimming costumes became so popular, that she started her own fashion line of one-piece bathing suits... She was portrayed by Esther Williams in the film Million Dollar Mermaid (1952) the two met to discuss the project, Kellerman was apprehensive that the glamourous star would overshadow her story, which of course she did, the film posters & advertising failed to give any to mention Kellerman... Esther William 1952... Kellerman and Williams...

O Cangaceiro (1953) Brazil Lima Barreto. an excellent historical action adventure film tells of the real life exploits of Lampião who was the most famous bandit leader of the Cangaço.
Cangaço was a form of banditry endemic to the Brazilian Northeast in the 1920s and 1930s. Lampião led a fearless band of up to 100 cangaçeiros, they occasionally took over small towns and fought a number of successful actions against paramilitary police when heavily outnumbered. Lampião's exploits his reputation and generosity towards the poor turned him into a 'folk hero'. Alberto Ruschel plays Teodoro (Lampião), original photos of Lampião and his band and stills from O Cangaceiro are remarkably alike... Lampião circa 1930

We did very few biographical movies in the pre 1990s. One we did was about Gustaf Dalén, inventor and Nobel Prize Lauriate ( It's not called winner), who's invention of automatic regulators for use in conjunction with gas accumulators for illuminating lighthouses and buoys, in other words they blinked the lights, making it easier for the marine, miltary or merchant, to differ lights while far out at sea, and saving many lives. He also invented the AGA Cooker, still popular in Great Britain were they still use gas ovens. Seger i mörker 1954 loosly translated to Victory in the Dark. Olof Bergström as Dalén sitting in a chair The real Dalén. His eyes was destroyed in an experiment freak accident.
