For physical resemblance, they don't come much closer than Anthony Dexter as Valentino... ...and Valentino himself: As far as the 1951 biopic was concerned, appearance was about as far as it went. Once he opened his mouth, Dexter was all Iowa and no Italy. As it turned out, he went on to play other real life figures in subsequent films: Capt. John Smith; Capt. Kidd, Billy the Kid; Christopher Columbus.
