Not so good: the thankfully short-lived abstract MGM lion from 1968: It only appeared on three films: Grand Prix (but not on any prints today), 2001: A Space Odyssey, and The Subject Was Roses. But they kept it as their print logo through early 1982

Not a parody, but a fairly terrible rip-off of the 20th Century Fox logo, this time from India:

Here's an MGM logo used in the former Soviet Union (yes, this is real):

....and just for fun, here's the naughty logo for World Wide Pictures (yes, this is real) I've seen it before, but the audacity of it still makes me laugh.

But they kept it as their print logo through early 1982 I must be among the few who liked it: modern, modest, simple and businesslike (which didn't diminish my affection for any of the living Leos, I hasten to add).

Before MGM, there was Goldwyn Pictures..... And Sam Goldwyn himself never had any association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, having been forced out of his own company before its merger with Mayer and Metropolitan. The Goldwyn name itself came about from a combination of syllables from the names Samuel Goldfish and his partner Edgar Selwyn...arrived at after realization that combining the other two syllables would have resulted in "Selfish." Goldfish liked the name so much he legally adopted it for himself, over which Selwyn unsuccessfully sued. There's a story - probably apocryphal, since Goldwyn vowed never again to have partners after the Selwyn experience - that a proposed merger of MGM and Goldwyn fell apart when Sam insisted the company be renamed Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer-Goldwyn.

An interesting parody of the Paramount logo from 2010, apparently from a documentary about graffiti :

The ultimate parody logo: it parodies RKO, MGM, Paramount, Columbia, and 20th Century Fox logos. It's from a 1974 porno called Panorama Blue (no, I haven't seen the film!)

And then, there was Steven Spielberg's affectionate tribute to the "Para" mount in Raiders Of the Lost Ark:
I can't find a clip of it, but 1945's Road To Utopia featured a scene with Crosby and Hope traveling by dogsled, with Crosby admiring "those trees, that snow," and Hope, pointing to a nearby peak, adding, "That bread and butter." When Crosby says, "That's a mountain," Hope answers, "It may be a mountain to you, but it's bread and butter to me," as a ring of stars encircles the peak and the Paramount lettering appears.
