Every fanbase has moments like this. TLJ is not the first movie to divide fans. It's not even the second, third, or fourth Star Wars movie to divide fans. Ummm, yes it is. Granted, I was in diapers when the original trilogy came out, so I can't tell whether any Star Wars fanboys bashed those movies at the time they were on the big screen. But I CAN tell you fanboys have been mindlessly praising EVERY Star Wars movie during its theatrical release since The Phantom Menace in '99. Anyone who DARES point out flaws in their overhyped "MUST SEE MOVIE EVENT OF THE YEAR" is quickly and harshly shot down by LEGIONS of mindless Star Wars fanboys who refuse to accept the movie they've been eagerly awaiting all year is a letdown. It's only MONTHS later, when the film has been OUT of theaters for a while and available on home video for quite some time, that Star Wars will admit in hindsight that the movie was NOT the epic masterpiece they PRETENDED it was at the time it was released. The Last Jedi is the FIRST and ONLY Star Wars film where I've seen Star Wars fanboys bash the movie DURING its theatrical run, and encourage people NOT to see it at the time of its release. And you were on the IMDB boards during the release of "The Force Awakens" ?

It's not just Star Wars fans. Marvel, DC, hell even shows like Steven universe has their crazies. But unfortunately, yeah the response to the film is pretty sad. I've never noticed it with Marvel or DC to be honest. The boards on classic IMDb were pretty bad depending on the superhero movie. Batman versus Superman was toxic. Doctor Strange had some nasty threads on the casting and whether it was whitewashed. The one for Fantastic Four (2015) became a f^cking Neo-Nazi forum once Michael B. Jordan was cast.

I never seen a movie try so hard to insult its core fanbase
its cool to try new things, but you sort of need some balance of respecting of what come before, instead of taking a big poop on it

It's not like he murdered a fan's family or something.
But to a certain segment of fans, that's exactly what it is.
In some cases, rape even.
Instead of signing a petition that's not going to accomplish anything, I think they should add their voices to the national debate on harassment and improper conduct that has taken center stage in everything from show business to politics.
Because for the first time, those voices are being taken seriously.

I've never seen such hatred for a movie that was actually quite enjoyable, but was a complete slap in the face to so called "hardcore fans". What are you guys 10 years old or something? Get a fucking life. "Get a fucking life." This coming from someone who took the time to log into his imdb2 account just to make this post. Thank you, good sire. Or should I say no thank you because you have no life either.
