Do I think it's true? People have exchanged sex for football tickets and meals at McDonalds. No doubt they've exchanged it for roles, male and female alike. But it should be noted that this doesn't excuse persons in power using their position to sexually harass innocent people. And in McKellen's defense, he said basically the same thing.

That was the rumor with Joan Crawford, though it could be salacious gossip by her mortal enemy Bette Davis.

how...the hell is Ian McKellen part of the problem? It seems that the truth will always be too offensive for some people.
The Weinsteins and their sex cult, along with all those who agreed to play by their rules, women or not, are culpable and should be held accountable.
The biggest problem in the whole situation, however, is that when you turn up that consent knob, all these situations are presented as "liberating" and "empowering." Which is exactly what the Weinsteins want and have successfully conditioned pop culture to believe, even the same culture that is going after them now.

I agree with him. I mean, Reese Witherspoon was raped and told no one so that she could get a role. We can’t say all of these victims are innocent here.

They both went after the same roles and sometimes the same men. Them dames. Who was the better actress? IMO, Davis all the way. And she usually wound up getting the best parts.

Of course it's true; why is that even a question?
