Just seen it, and was quite excited because it has two of my favorite childhood things: Jumanji and the Rock.
The good (or bad?) thing is that despite the nostalgia, I went in with very low expectations because of the crappy trailer, which allowed me to enjoy the movie quite a bit and be pleasantly surprised that it wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be.
It's at least a 6.5/10, maybe 7. Fun, light-hearted, actually funny in a number of places, and the cast deliver charm and charisma and breathe life into the whole project.
Of course, it's nowhere near the same level as the film with Robin Williams; the heart and adventure that one had; but it didn't really aim to match up to it. In some ways it was an action-comedy spoof of the the first film, and for the most part it worked.
The downfalls, as can be predicted, was the hokey modern teen nonsense, and the usual Hollywood formulaic plot progression.
So yeah, the mindset you have going into this movie is important. If you expect the magic and heart of Robin Williams' effort, you won't get it here. But if you're up for a well made (by Hollywood's standards) action-comedy flick, you will have a good time.

Glad to see last jedi running up against a brick wall of competition. Jumanji will lure away a lot of family audiences. Teenage girls will go for Pitch Perfect and adults for Greatest Showman and Downsizing.

Teenage girls will go for Pitch Perfect and adults for Greatest Showman and Downsizing. TLJ will pass $1 billion with ease and maybe even pass $1.5 billion. It was always going to do just fine with or without competition.
