I still do not care. I loved the movie. The haters are ridiculous today. EVERYTHING gets nitpicked. If the OT came out today, Star Wars would be nothing because everyone would bitch about the entire movie.

I've had more friends say negative things about the film than positive. So it doesn't surprise me. My guess, without having seen it, is it's a capable movie...but as far as a Star Wars movie it falls short of expectation.

This is easily better than TFA and the prequel trilogy.

The cries of foulplay are out of desperation and perplexion. The user ratings are the same on most sites (or even worse like on Metacritic). It's a good old backlash, no point in denying it.
Unfair thing is, TLJ now reaps what TFA sowed. The mystery box collapsed being empty and people are angry about it. TLJ is still not a bad movie, significantly better than the unimaginative rehash TFA.

From Rotten Tomatoes Audience reviews:
"Three decades of commitment to a story to be thrown out by a director in order to be edgy or daring is not that at all. It's disrespectful to the fans. Luke was my window into Star Wars. You've lost me Disney."
"Does Rian Johnson just hate Star Wars"
"Yet more politically motivated, race and gender baiting trash from the liberal think tank that is Hollywood. I would rather watch the 3 prequels back to back, than be force fed Feminist/Marxist political propaganda. Seriously, ALL the bad guys are white men? All the goodies are ethnic minorities or women? Give me a break. Try and tell a decent science fiction story for once, and leave the identity guff out of it. Pathetic. The only "force" that's strong here, is the forced politics and tokenism."
"This movie threw away everything that meant anything in the Star Wars universe."
"Total slap in the face to long time fans..."
"Well what a disappointment. This is the first time I have ever left a review of a film, just because I am so disappointed. It seems star wars is the latest victim to be sacrificed on the altar of diversity and social justice. Unfortunately like everything now our entertainment culture has to be politicised. Whether it be films, games or even sports. The problem is these people live in a bubble and don't realise people just want to be entertained without political opinions being thrown at them."
"This is a good movie, just not a good Star Wars movie."
The only thing people should take from this film and from Disney's handling of Star War is the line Kylo Ren speaks: "Let the past die, kill it if you have to."
"It was a letdown. And I was born during the launch of the prequels. I just feel sorry for all those OG diehard fans who waited for 40 years for a movie that would serve Luke justice."
"Great actors but cheap story Disappointment at it's best"
"This film has some good qualities, the sound as always is phenomenal, some of the visual scenes are fantastic. but none of that matters, because this film reduced Luke Skywalker to sociopathic paranoid hopeless bully. And to make matters worse, it is plainly obvious he was written this way to be a cheap plot device to provide the motivation for Kylo Ren. This movie makes it clear that star wars is now only interested in continuing to make films for years and more importantly make money. They fundamentally changed a beloved character in the worst way possible and used this movie to setup a continual cycle of "new" heroes. This movie failed to address any of the intrigue and mystery of the last film. This film should be called Episode 8: It Doesnt matter. Who is Snoke? it doesnt matter. Who are Reys parents? it doesnt matter. Is Snoke a sith? it doesnt matter. I could continue but whats the point. This film threw Luke Skywalker under the bus in the name of making sure that they can continue to make movies for as long as it is making money. This movie killed Star Wars."
"SW The Last Jedi shows that Hollywood can move on. The movies of the past are just that past. Star Wars belongs to the new fans now." I guess this is a key thing, we have the classic fans disappointed (most of them) and looks like they are renewing the audience.
About the "hate", I guess some people have the right to not to like this movie.

Calling it first, they're gonna remove the audience score in the future.

Still, the former editor and chief of RT has said that he never considered audience scores authentic.

So it seems Hollywood is shoving their liberal ideology down everyone's throat so stringently they have managed to turn the most rabid fanbase in movie history against the movies they love more than anything. Wouldn't it be easier for these SJW nutcases to just move into a neighborhood that isn't 100% white or perhaps try and make an actual friend that's swarthy? Maybe give real women equal pay for equal work and perhaps stop assaulting them instead of having fictional female characters all be all knowing and powerful and good.
Of course like most white liberals their mantra is "Do as I say not as I do" so that won't be happening. Easier to make fictional white males incompetent and evil than for the sjw's to not be hypocrites themselves. We wouldn't want all those liberals in Hollywood to miss out on preying on boys and women would we?

Johnson really dropped the ball on this one. Its The EIGHT instalment of a ongoing saga. You cant just ignore what came before. You didnt see any of the directors do that with the Harry potter series.
Finished with Star Wars I am.

This movie is not even debatable better than at least four Star Wars movies I can think of.

The fact that there is even a question about the score, as if people aren't allowed to not like a movie, is deeply disturbing.

So it seems Hollywood is shoving their liberal ideology down everyone's throat so stringently they have managed to turn the most rabid fanbase in movie history against the movies they love more than anything. A. Making female characters strong and prominent, and expanding the character base to include minorities, is only "shoving their liberal ideology down everyone's throat" to people who are intellectual Neanderthals. B. Good riddance to any knuckle-dragging moron who would turn against the movie for doing so. Such pieces of shit never understood the values of the Star Wars series to begin with. Seriously, they have far more in common ideologically with the Empire and First Order than anything else. It would be hilarious were it not so pathetic.
