Hi agentsparky, I'm laid up at the moment recovering from a shoulder/arm injury but getting by ok thanks. Hope things are good in your world. I'm always quite dismissive of HALLOWEEN sequels whenever they're announced largely because I feel the concept was all used up many years ago. Truth be told, I feel the same about this one but Carpenter's involvement and the rumours that it was a direct sequel to either the first or second movie got me intrigued and my curiosity got the better of me! I hope your recovery is a speedy one and great to see you back.
Halloween is shaping up to be my most anticipated movie of this year. I'm done and had given up on Star Wars.

Producers: We promise, this REALLY is the final confrontation between Laurie and Michael, Scouts' Honor. I know we said this decades ago with Halloween H20, but THIS time we mean it for sure.*
*(until we check box office receipts)

It's hard to be enthusiastic since it is like the third reboot or alternate universe and a 70 year old Nick Castle coming home to collect a social security check is not exactly the most inspiring image.

Unless the reviews and ratings are wow, I'm giving this a miss.

I agree. Its hard to get in the Halloween mood when it's 80 degrees and sunny outside.

As well as the last with Carpenter and Castle's involvement. I was already fully on board with just Carpenter being involved with story development, doing the music score, producing and being a direct sequel to just the first movie. The announcement of Jamie Lee Curtis was icing on the cake and then the official announcement of Nick Castle returning was an added bonus.

I just hope Nick Castle is up to it. Apparently there are two actors being credited for playing The Shape, Castle himself and a stunt man. That makes perfect sense, since the dude is pretty old to be stalking teens and falling out of windows. I'm hoping as the shape, he is still in shape to at least look like he can still do such things.

That wasn't Nick Castle getting shot and falling off the balcony. That was a stunt double. As for character of Michael Myers, he's a paranormal force of pure evil. He doesn't age.

Right... but he needs to look like he hasn't aged. He can't be hunched over or overweight or walk like he just got his hip replaced.

I hope they go back to them being unrelated - it was a nonsense twist Carpenter came up with in a drunken stupor - but I'm skeptical they'll have the balls since it's now such an integral part of the series. Even the remake, which had a completely clean slate, brought it back.

Eh, I don't mind that they're related, but then I'm not the biggest fan of the franchise, so maybe there's a downside I'm not seeing.

Carpenter spent the first movie painting Myers as a force of nature and pure evil. Having Brackett ask Loomis if Haddonfield was about to become a slaughter house. Then we find out in part 2 that Myers was just a dude who wanted to kill his sister and that the only person in danger was Laurie and anyone unlucky enough to be with her.
