It's not a bad choice for the villains. It'd be something more interesting than Ed Skrein's boring 'evil Brit' performance.
TEXT:
The Purifiers could make sense as villains in Deadpool 2 because of the addition of Cable to the cast. Cable is believed by to be the future messiah by a religion from the future known as Clan Askani. Perhaps there’s a religious war brewing in the background of Deadpool 2.
The Purifiers also played a significant role in the Messiah CompleX story, and some fans feel like Deadpool 2 and the coming X-Force movie maybe drawing on that story – which involved Cable protecting a young girl who is the future of the mutant race form the Purifiers and other villains – as a blueprint for the overarching story fo the darker side of the X-Men movies universe.

The Purifiers just made an appearance in The Gifted. I'm not sure how much they want to connect the movies and the shows at this point or if they want to at all.

Only thing about the Purifiers in The Gifted is that they look more like a KKK style backwoods group rather than a paramilitary religious group.

That's why I would have rather seen the Friends of Humanity instead of the Purifiers. FOH fits the bill here more than the Purifiers do.

I'm guessing it's because they didn't want people running around with FOH on their jackets/shirts. But "F*** Outta Here" still works for what they want. lol I bet that the Purifiers was a Singer suggestion considering his boner for Stryker.
