I was pleasantly surprised by this movie No it isn't going to win any awards on great story or profound character development. Despite its low budget I think it's incredibly fun and I just love the monsters design. It also has some good gore. It's one I defintely want to add to my collection. Any other low budget, movies that are considered mediocre, bad or even awful to the general opinion that you greatly enjoy? For me Burial Ground is definitely one that fits the category. And well pretty much all the horror movies from Herschell Gordon Lewis.

I love sleazy B horror movies like that one, especially when they happen to actually have decent special effects. Terrorvision is another one that comes to mind.

Hell yeah, TerrorVision is great.
Street Trash is one of my favorites, just crazy over-the-top practical effects and very funny too.

Uninvited (1988)
A real low-budget b-movie, but one that comes along with a certain charm, where you have a poisonous mutant cat (but looks more like a hand puppet) on board with some old gangster/crooks plus your ordinary horny teenage coeds along the way, and of course the uninvited guest starts showing his face up all over, causing total chaos and well, I really dug this so-bad-its-entertaining b-flick, and found it funny that the DVD company who relased it, were named Cheese Flicks.

Woodchipper Massacre (1988)
A funny, charming and very enjoyable little b-movie that (for me at last) is a far more entertaining product than most of todays crappy, generic Hollywood CGI dominated 500 billion budget films could ever come up with.

Caught this crazy looking Ozzie horror/comedy-cult b-movie very late at night cable, back in summer of 2002, and even though it might not be as "sleazy" as Street Trash or as good as some of Peter Jackson's earlier work, it is absolutely worth a watch for any splatter fan, as it comes with a great portion of gore/blood and some truly crazy characters.

I freakin love The Woodchipper Massacre. Good pick. The kid playing the air guitar is one my favorite movie scenes ever hahaha. I watched Body Melt some years ago, but don't remember much of it, will have to rewatch it. And while we're on the subject of bodies melting, Slime City is another super sleazy good time.

I too, thought the best thing about "The Deadly Spawn" was the creature fx and the overall nastiness.
I have a real soft spot for Larry Cohen's hokey, rough-around-edges sequel (in namely only) "A Return to Salem's Lot". The cast make it very enjoyable.
One you might like; "The Brain" (1988). It's outrageously silly and offbeat, but very fun b-grade Sci-fi / horror with cult actor David Gale's straight-up glee adding to the amusement.
Neon Maniacs (1986). Very loopy and campy horror. This is one film where logic doesn't exist.
"Prey" (1977). An alien in search of a food source comes by two reclusive lesbian lovers at their countryside cottage and decides to stick around causing some tension. Downright bizarre, but very compelling and unique stuff by filmmaker Norman J Warren. I think it's a lot better than it looks.
"Plankton aka Creatures from the Abyss" (1994). Bonkers Italian monster exploitation. Sleazy, outrageous and cheap.

Decided to bump this one, as I did get a lot of entertainment value out of stuff like Plankton (1994), which actually turned into a rather nasty and evil kind of film, considering all the stuff that goes on, but thought it was quite well made, for such a "little" b-movie. Anyway, would love to hear if any others doing the October Horror Challenge, has any kind of favorites when it comes to low budget or just sleazy, cheesy or campy b-movie films they want to share with the others.
Anyway, I came to think of a not so bad low budget zombie release, I believe goes under the name of Flesheater (1988), which is probably most famous due to having the original zombie (Bill Hinzman) returning from the ground, as one of the undead, but I remember from last visit, that it was quite enjoyable and well made, for what is most likely a very low budget late 80s film.
Hard Rock Zombies (1985) is another "winner", where you have a rock band getting themselves stuck in the middle of nowhere, and soon all hell breaks loose, while Hitler is about to make his comeback, an evil nazi granny-werewolf, nazi-midget and head that ends up eating itself, and yeah, so much wild and ridiculous stuff goes on, and somehow it all works out. Also it has quite a catchy and nice soundtrack as well:

Just bumped into this "masterpiece", known as Beasties (1991) on Youtube, last night.
Thought of putting my review into this thread, but yeah, I think the trailer (looks like the directors himself, has uploaded it) is more than enough:
The trailer actually makes the film (at least the version I saw) way funnier, but that is usually how it goes. Not sure if I will ever re-watch again, but for those who love these kind of low budget horror films, it might be worth a go.
Could not help but notice that the director also uploaded an extended version of the film, where as the one I saw, lasted for about 82-85 minutes, and that was more than enough for me, while there is a much longer edition, that runs (according to Youtube) for about 1 hour and 46 minutes, and yeah, probably more fun for the die hard fans.
Also, I guess the shorter version has cut out quite a few scenes from the trailer, which almost (almost) makes me want to see the longer version, but no, I think that should do for now. Maybe when October arrives, I might dig in once more.

Can't remember the name of it. But it's a low budget movie about Rednecks who find an Alien and of course hunt it. I have it on a pan and Scan dvd.
"BloodTide" starring James Earl Jones in a Greek creature feature is fun.
And also one about a group of people who crash in a small Plane. They fortunately find a run down Cabin to wait out the Snow Storm. But bad CGI creatures are in the House. "Blood Predator" I think?

I see I have to take some notes for further unseen potential low budget horror "classics" from the 80s, which hopefully is lying around on Youtube.

I see I have to take some notes for further unseen potential low budget horror "classics" from the 80s, which hopefully is lying around on Youtube. I've mentioned it elsewhere, but my go-to 80s low budget fun horror movie that most people haven't seen or heard of is Demon Wind. Seems like it was somewhat recently rediscovered, and it's a whole lot of fun. I also see that this movie is on Shudder so I'll check it out soon. There was a different one, but similarly titled, called Evil Spawn which was a bit dull, but had its moments. Not horror, but if you haven’t seen Miami Connection you're missing out. It's also a rediscovery, and it's a blast. It's terrible in all the best ways. Lots of others but these are the ones I thought of first.
