It was tonally inappropriate and inconsistent with the previous "saga" films. This is the sort of asymmetry and inattention to detail that makes the Disney movies cash-grab garbage with little rewatch value. It was fine for an anthology movie though. Oh, I don't think that final scene was an inattention to detail. It was a statement. Well, it's as much a statement as the film's audience rating, I guess. Message sent: and rejected, en masse.

Haha, fair enough. It was so disjointed and stupid and "Disneyfied." They should've closed on the shot that @pistachio said, with the porg sitting atop R2D2.

How can broom boy use the force when he's received no training whatsoever? That question has been asked for centuries without answers. It's also known as Grace vs. Deeds, Nature vs. Nurture, etc. Is a great connection to the Force a birthright, or earned, or both? Who decides who gets that access, the Force, the user or both? Are there more variables that tilt the favor to one side vs. the other? We always talk about this from the perspective of the human in this whole thing, what about the perspective of the Force? Ah, I don't think you understood what I asked - I'm not question the boy having a connection to the force, but how he could USE the force without training. Anyone can possess a connection to the force, but throughout SW until a force user has been trained how to use the force it tended to remain dormant within them. I guess this is part of the new cannon, now force users don't require training, they can download the force or it can be magically activated within them.

I wonder how the first guy to use it did it then?
