Credit cards, checks, any form of electronic transfer pretty much fulfills large transaction needs. Getting a store to accept it would be difficult as most stores wouldn't be able to make change. Also the fear of a counterfeit bill. Some business frown on taking $100 bills. The U.S. $1000 note was last printed in 1946 and recalled in 1969. They are still legal tender, but worth much more to a collector. 1934 series front  back
