What we got in the films was hardly a better alternative. What we got was something that had better reception than it’s source material. Did you know that Xavier wanted to bang Jean Grey? Except the first X-men movies were not based off the First Class storyline. So this comparison doesn't make sense.

The X-Men comics have survived for decades, but the film series has struggled quite a bit since 2003. I’m talking pre-Giant Size X-Men. Yeah, and he himself realized this was sick and wrong though. Compared to some of the other unsavory things he's done, that ain't so bad.

The X-Men films heavily borrow elements from all across the X-Men comic canon, so yeah, the X-Men comics, period, are the source material.

And why would you be talking about the recent trilogy when we're talking about Fox X-men in its entirety? Even if you take the latest trilogy, I'm pretty sure Mystique wasn't part of the original X-men nor is the Phoenix saga part of the first class storyline.

Technically, there weren’t any X-Men until the very end of Apocalypse. The team you see in First Class isn’t officially the X-Men, just a group of mutants Chuck got together to fight Shaw. At the end of the film he shows no interest in forming a superhero team that Moria suggest. Even the filmmakers said that weren’t real X-Men but sort of a proto-version. In regards to Mystique they were combining Xavier’s origin in the 616 with the Ultimate version. In the Ultimate version Mystique was the lover of Xavier but then later sided with Magneto after he crippled him(the plot of First Class). In the 616 Xavier had a fall out with his step-sibling Juggernaut and then exiled himself in the mansion(the plot of DOFP). In short, Mystique is met to be a stand-in for Juggy. There was no Phoenix in the First Class films either. The plot synopsis of Dark Phoenix confirms that wasn’t the Phoenix Force but Jean’s base power. Jean will become Phoenix in that movie the same way she did in the comic version.

That's a lot of uh... comic gymnastics to put those together. In the end though you just proved that the X-men movies have very little similarity with their source material. And that's considering that you're trying to not address all the older X-men movies prior to the latest trilogy... i.e. majority of their movies.

Marvel studios also practices these “comic gymnastics” of combining 616 with Ultimate in regards to the Avengers and Spider-Man. As for the older films X2 was the very first Marvel film to that. This is possibly due to Kevin Feige’s influence. Its when the studio started to muddle with the projects is when we get massive shifts from the comics. In the case of X3, Origins, and possibly Apocalypse. In Apocalypse Wolverine was originally going to be the leader of the X-Men at the end of the film. There are mentionings of rewrites happening during filming which would probably explain why Wolverine is in and out of the movie.

The MCU movies are mostly faithful to the source material with a few things tweaked here and there to make them different. The Fox movies are mostly completely different from the source material, with a few things tweaked here and there to make them similar to the source material. Do you see the difference? Even now you're bending over backward trying to make connections just to convince me that they had some similarities the source material. Just the fact that you're having such a hard time finding connections already show how dissimilar it is from the source.

And no, the MCU is far more like the Ultimate comics than the 616. Marvel writers like Mark Millers even stated this with the first Iron Man. Avengers was way more like Ultimates than Avengers #1. I’m not bending over I’m stating facts.

Avengers the Movie was a combo of 616 Avengers 1 and Ultimates. It had an alien invasion, but it also had Loki as the main villain.

X3 and Apocalypse were not good movies at all. No MCU movie ever made is worse than those so this summer moron is way off. Also, Star Wars is 'crashing and burning' its way to a billion dollars. How horrible for them. Spiderman Homecoming was a great movie and maybe the best Spiderman movie.

That shouldn’t stop them from making Hank and Janet too old to be Avengers, It also had Captain America from Ultimates, SHEILD from Ultimates, Black Nick Fury from Ultimates, a fight with crazy Hulk from Ultimates, and almost everyone had the look from Ultimates. X3 and Apocalypse were not good movies at all. No MCU movie ever made is worse than those so this summer moron is way off. Also, Star Wars is 'crashing and burning' its way to a billion dollars. I honestly refer Apocalypse over Iron Man 2 and Thor 2. And Iron Fist and Inhumans are generally considered far worse than any current X-property.

Whereas the Fox universe took maybe a hint from their source material then ran wild with the rest. Honestly, all you're doing is reinforcing what I'm saying.

But won’t say the same thing when the Avengers use the Ultimate imprint way more? lol

You had to make some jumps and combinations just to find a way to find a connection. Whereas a black Nick Fury and a gun-using Captain America are direct characteristics of their Ultimate versions.
