This was really good. Margot Robbie continues to impress and the actress that played her character's mom should hands down be nominated for an Oscar ("I didn't cuss you cunt") she had me dying laughing throughout this film. Also, Sebastian Stan was impressive in his role as the controlling dbag /dipshit boyfriend .
I HIGHLY recommend seeing this in theaters if you can!
9/10

good. i really want to see this. i was heavily interested in this saga when it was going on - i was a senior in high school -- and i started out feeling really sorry for Nancy, but then started feeling sorry for tonya. i always felt sorry for nancy for getting it in the knee but i felt sorry for tonya to 'have to resort to that'.
she was the better skater and was always getting shafted because nancy was 'cleaner', more ladylike, and less severe. god, how gullible and stupid were we back then to let looks outshine talent.

It is a textbook example of class-ism. Tonya was tagged as "trailer trash" and suffered as a result.

The movie is crazy but in a good way. I agree wholeheartedly on the idea that Allison Janney should get a nomination for best actress in a supporting role. I must say that I have a different favorite line though: "Oh please, show me a family that doesn't have ups and downs!" (after the knife throw) Everybody is great in it. The music fits the tone and pace really well and overall the movie is just the right mix of recollection, humor and drama. Has to be the movie I enjoyed the most for 2017. I concur with the 9/10.

It is a textbook example of class-ism. Tonya was tagged as "trailer trash" and suffered as a result. Yep, I was always on Harding's side rather than Kerrigan's side because Harding was the better skater but was always being unfairly treated by the judges and the media. That scene of the judge telling Harding that she doesn't have a wholesome family image shows just how unfair the judges treated Harding. So the judges basically punished Harding because her father left when she was a child. And the media always favored Kerrigan because of the class-ism. It's similar to how the media always favors Tom Brady. The media severely criticized the cheaters in baseball who broke home run records, but the media always gives a free pass to Tom Brady (who is the biggest cheater in NFL history and won his first 4 Super Bowls by blatant cheating) just because Brady came from a rich, upper-class family. This was a good movie, very funny. And Margot Robbie was outstanding.

Damnit, I posted a thread way back when I first saw it. Should have waited lol. imdb2.freeforums.net/thread/74084/tonyaMy thoughts posted: This is one of the year's best. Really does handle humor with surprising emotion. Kind of reminiscent of The Big Short. Should be serious award chances for Robbie and especially Janney, who's unrecognizable and ruthless as Harding's mother. Nice to see a biopic that isn't lifeless. Highly recommended.
