Let's be honest now. Both films don't really have that many action scenes if you think about it and mostly focus on Peter Parker.
That being said, the latter is considered as one of the best Spider-Man films out of 6 (personally, I think it's the second after 'Spider-Man 2') while the former is considered as one of the worst Spider-Man films out of 6 (and I actually think this IS indeed the worst one).
How did that happen? How did one Spider-Man film lacking in action got so disliked while the other became so well-liked?
P.S. I have my own opinions. What are yours?

I honestly think Homecoming is the worst. At ASM2 had potential There is no way you really believe this. TASM 2 is on the same level as Affleck's Daredevil and Catwoman. It is one of the worst super hero movies ever made. The acting is terrible. Jamie Fox is seriously horrible in it and gives the worst performance of his career. The action scenes are seriously terrible and cheesy. It is almost as if they did it that way on purpose. No performance in Spiderman: HC is worse than the best performance in that movie. The effects are WAY better. I know it is a newer movie, but seriously way better. You also have Jamie Fox vs. Michael Keaton. No contest there.

Homecoming was better than The Amazing Spider-man movies but it wasn't as good as the original Spider-man or Spider-man 2.

I think both are the weakest in the franchise, but I prefer Homecoming. Both are okay in my opinion. Actually, TASM2 is definitely more flawed and I can certainly understand the hate for it. It was a stepdown from the first ASM movie, which I really liked. The original will always be my favourite, though. Spider-Man 2 was great, but a little overrated.

Homecoming feels like a disney channel movie and has bad jokes. ASM 2 was at least a serious movie and it was setting up for something big. Jamie Foxx might of been a hit or miss but so were some of the homecoming actors.

If we go by this logic, 'Fant4stic' would be better than 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

I find it unintentionally hilairous that Marc Webb - get it WEBB -directed a few of the Spiderman movies with the Andrew Garfield - Webb, Web? (Foghorn Leghorn meme; That's a JOKE son! also radio, Senator Claghorn). Marc Webb, of course, also directed movies like 500 Days of Summer, Gifted, etc.

Homecoming feels like a disney channel movie and has bad jokes. It had better humor than the Raimi movies. As for "Disney flick"...let me guess, you hated he actually looked like a teen this time instead of the cast all looking like 30 year olds.

Bad writing and forced world-building is what washed Amazing Spider-Man 2 out. The film just had too many plot threads in which the film became over-stuffed: the Peter-Gwen relationship arc, Peter trying to find the truth about his parents, and Harry's corporate struggle against the members of the board and teaming up with Electro. I found Electro's motivation for hating Spider-Man to be weak. Ultimately by the time Gwen died, the movie had worn out its welcome and I remember feeling so uncomfortable in my chair because the movie was going on too long.
The scene when the "man in the shadows" visits Harry in the asylum should have been a post-credits scene instead of being another subplot that's integrated in the main storyline. Practically, the main reason why The Amazing Spider-Man 2 exists was to act as a stepping stone towards The Sinister Six, and it felt sort of forced.
On the other hand, Spider-Man: Homecoming had a more focused storyline with Peter balancing his personal life and being Spider-Man. The world-building with Spider-Man being offered a chance to be an Avenger felt part of the storyline given that was Peter's motivation throughout the film, although that should have been Uncle Ben's death.

P.S. I have my own opinions. What are yours? For me it all boiled down to storytelling. Like there's an end goal in mind. In Homecoming, Peter Parker wants to be taken seriously as a superhero. It's only eleven minutes shorter than the other film but we know where we're going and what transpires builds up to that. Vulture's beef with Iron Man, the ferry scene, his decision to skip Homecoming, etc. It's a solid story and accessible to sit through. Meanwhile, ASM2 threw everything from repeating the 'multiple villains' mistake of Spider Man 3; clues about Sinister Six; and then to Gwen Stacy's death. But none of it felt like the same movie or that there was a goal in mind within the story of said movie. Yeah there's a villain with Electro but he's not even the main threat or does the most damage to Peter Parker. A randomly inserted Harry Osborn who we are told to believe is Peter's best friend does. Foxx only appears in two major action scenes, didn't he? (I just saw it once and that was enough) Hell they even throw in Norman Osborn who dies after 5 minutes of screentime hidden away in the shadows. (Sorry for those that hadn't seen it; yet I feel like I'm spoiling everything).

It had better humor than the Raimi movies. Sorry, but "You're the one that's out Gobby, OUT OF YOUR MIND!" or the Goblin pretending to be an old lady are way worse than any of Homecomings' humor.

Tinker telling Vulture that Indians are Native Americans Montana's death The ending Ned saying hes watching porn Peter gets trapped in the warehouse. I can go on I don't get the hate for Harrys look in ASM til about the 2000s Harry looked like a creepy motherfucker, then they gave him a more pretty boy look
