I love Better Off Dead and One Crazy Summer (both directed by Savage Steve Holland). So funny.
I also really like Say Anything. Cameron Crowe's directorial debut, it's a great blend of drama and comedy.
Gross Pointe Blank and High Fidelity are on my watchlist.

What are Your Opinions on ..
Better Off Dead 1985 -- Great goofy movie that captured what goofy movies were in the mid 80's.
One Crazy Summer 1986 -- It was a lot like Better Off Dead, loved seeing Demi Moore in it.
Hot Pursuit 1987 -- I saw it, but I really don't remember much about it, a dud for me then. I would watch his previous 2 films mentioned above in a minute, but this one, no.
Say Anything 1989 -- A nice romantic comedy, I think it was the first film where Cusack showed he could be more than what he was in those 3 previous films, that he could be cast in some serious films.
Grosse Point Blank 1997 -- Never saw it.
High Fidelity 2000 -- A pretty dry film for me. It wasn't horrible, but I have no desire to see it again.

My favorite Cusack movies are Eight Men Out and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

shannondegrootI pretty much like John in anything that I have seen him in. Of your list, the only one I recall seeing is Gross Point Blank.
He has been in some really good films, some clunkers and some in-betweens BUT for me, he is always at the very least, interesting..
Am curious ..are you wanting help in choosing which film to watch ? or posting threads and seeing what happens with them ? or ... ?

The interaction between the three leads and the suddenness of that scene that stuck with me for days. I am BIG on not spoiling suprises so please no telling ! If you saw it, you know which scene. |

Say Anything 1989 Cute but forgettable beyond the holding the boombox up scene - is that really all the film has going for it?
Grosse Point Blank 1997 Annoying.
I don't really like Cusack at all, my favorite film with him is Class, because he's not the main focus of that movie, and I actually find him tolerable in it.

Only one I care about is High Fidelity. As far as whiny white guy movies go it's top in it's class and I watch it every couple years. Great script, great performances, great soundtrack.
