DC’s Titans TV Show Will Feature This Iconic Comics Location

If you've been paying attention to the world of TV and film production, you'll notice that superhero properties are everywhere. Comic book adaptations have proven to be some of the most popular and profitable source materials, so there's new superheroic adventures being produced constantly across a variety of studios. DC is looking to launch its own streaming service with the upcoming live-action series Titans, revolving around the group known as the Teen Titans that is led by Batman's protegee Robin. Dick Grayson will be played by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales actor Brenton Thwaites, who has been sharing some photos from the set. And a recent one teased the inclusion of a major DC location: Gotham City. Check it out.


This photo shows Brenton Thwaites rocking his Robin costume under a warm winter jacket. With a cold front hitting the majority of the country, it makes sense that the Boy Wonder would need some extra layers in between shots. And while it's exciting enough to see how awesome that Robin outfit is, his caption teases the debut of Gotham City, as Thwaites was apparently recording some action sequences in Batman's home town.


Brenton Thwaites's Instagram post is sure to excite the many Batman fans who are planning on tuning into Titans to watch Robin lead the team and kick some ass. And while Gotham City will apparently factor into the narrative of the series, it's unlikely that it will be the primary setting of the series. If the Teen Titans set up base in Gotham, they would have the help of Batman and other members of the Bat-family at their disposal. This would seem anti-climactic, as the group of young heroes would have easy access to backup if they need it. Instead, it's likely that they'll set up in another location that needs vigilante presence to clean the streets. Plus, they don't want to compete with FOX's Gotham by utilizing the same fictional space.



While small details about Titans are slowly being revealed, aspects like its setting are still very much a mystery. Additionally, DC hasn't yet made its plans for its streaming service public, so it's unclear exactly where Titans will eventually debut for TV audiences. The series contains relative unknowns as the titular team of heroes, including 24: Legacy actress Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy. And while Cyborg won't be included to his role in the DCEU, some star power and extra superpowers are being provided by Friday Night Lights alum Minka Kelly, who is playing one half of the duo Hawk and Dove.
