It is going to take a lot of people staying home or buying a ticket to something else to put a stop to it. As long as people keep going to see roughly the exact same movie over and over year after year, those movies are going to continue to be made. After the first year that superhero films under perform, they are going to start to fade and will soon be gone if the trend holds, but I'm not going to bet the house on it. As P.T. Barnum (played by Hugh Jackman in "The Greatest Showman") once said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

They will have to underperform and disappoint at the box office in a cyclical trend - one after another. The losses will have to be greatly detrimental to the studios that they will cut down on their production and marketing costs and maybe, announce some layoffs. If the films still continue to make losses, they will eventually stop being produced.

ain't it fairly obvious? ; they would have to stop generating tons of $$$ which I don't see happened anytime soon. so basically they are going to continue to be made for the foreseeable future.
with that said... on a personal level, while not many super hero movies are worth re-watching for me I still enjoy some of them to where I would still like to see at least some get made as the years pass.
