...the cinematography for some of the action in Captain America: Civil War. Not sure if it's the cinematography or the editing. I don't generally have a problem with shaky cam in movies and I remember people complaining about it with Winter Soldier but I thought the camerawork was fine in that movie. Something about some of the shots and cuts in Civil War looks different and it just bugs the hell out of me. I was very surprised to see that Trent Opaloch was DoP on both movies. Thought he did a really good job on Winter Soldier and his collaborations with Niell Blomkamp.
Maybe it is the editing. I'm really hoping Infinity War doesn't have that same look with the action.

It took the episode of Cinema Sins for me to even notice that. WTF was up with that? The first two films had pretty good action choreography that was easy to follow if I recall. And I don't remember any other MCU release using shakey-cam?

Good to know I'm not the only one that noticed.

I think it might be they had less time to plan physical shots and/or choreography. there's a guy on youtube who adores fight choreography Rossatron, and I think he enjoyed TWS's fight scenes, but felt CW's were subpar, or at least the less CGI intensive scenes.

I'll see if I can find it. But my problem is with the cinematography not choregraphy. I think the choreography is fine. It just some of the shots are a little messy/unfocused. Except for the airport battle and the end fight. They are the only action scenes that look as good as the winter soldier.

I have to agree. TWS had the same frantic action scenes but I had no trouble following the action. In Civil War, it felt like they cut scenes too quick and too often? You notice it the most in the stairway fight. Though the airport fight and the Cap/Bucky vs. IM was pretty decent. Maybe it was just the tight confines of the staircase? The only other MCU movies I had trouble with the fight scenes were the Thor movies. They also had way too many cuts which made the fight scenes hard to follow. I got the feeling that the Thor vs. Loki fight in the first movie would have been a good fight if it weren't for so many cuts.
