Cherry 2000 (1987) Always enjoyed that sci-fi/adventure movie. It is quite charming, and with lots of fun with the plot and characters, and might be one of the better roles of Melanie Griffith during the 80s. Kind of like Mannequin (1987) set into the world of the Mad Max universe. By the way, have you seen the director and his follow up film Miracle Mile (1988)? That is another really good and special late 80s sci-fi movie. Sadly he only made two, but at least they were very good and enjoyable ones.

Yeah. 'Darkman' was a great movie and it is one of my favourite superhero movies and I think it is very underrated. I liked Liam Neeson in the leading role too and I am glad he has returned to the Action genre now and we have enjoyed quite a few of his latest Action movies. Some might disagree but watching some of them I think he might have made a good James Bond but would be a little too old to replace Daniel Craig now. From what I heard about 'Darkman' there was some type of falling out with Sam Rami and the studio over the sequels and the direction they went in and Liam Neeson didn't like the script for the second movie so he turned down returning and I can't say I blame him 'cause the sequels were pretty bad in my opinion which was a shame 'cause I think Darkman would be more well known now if the sequels had lived up to the first movie and Liam kept doing them. It is funny you said you would like to see him return 'cause I did read an interview with him a few years back where he said he enjoyed the movie and would like to do it again if he liked the script and I think it is probably too late now 'cause he has been saying the next few movies he does are his final Action movies and he is going to retire from the genre 'cause he feels he is getting too old to do them but I wouldn't be surprised if they make a remake or reboot of it at some point in the near future 'cause of how popular superhero movies are now and it would be good if he made a cameo in it.
What did you think of 'The Crow' movies? I loved the first one and actually like 'The Crow: City of Angels' and 'The Crow: Salvation' but I wasn't a fan of 'Wicked Prayer' or the TV Show and if they bring it back again I would like to see more of the other graphic novels adapted like some of the latest ones instead of a remake of the one with Brandon Lee 'cause I don't think you can replace Brandon but there are a lot of Crows in the graphic novels including female ones like Iris Shaw who would be fun to see in live action.
/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_asset/file/13758980/The_Crow_Flesh_and_Blood.jpg) Yeah, I think the involvement from the big studios, often leads to a far too big and dramatic jump in "quality", especially back in the early 90s with the surprise success hits of the first Darkman movie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles release, where sadly both would be followed by much weaker and watered down films, which never quite hit the same heights as the originals. Still fun, but if they had been done with more of the same freedom and creativity as the first ones, I believe they would be, at least better and probably hell up much stronger, rather than being remembered as the lesser ones in those short lived franchises. I am glad Neeson found his home within the (a bit late, but better than never) action genre, but I can see why he wants to back out, if not someone might bring along another game changer like the Taken film (for Neeson that is), and maybe he might move on to some darker villainous roles again, as the one in Batman Begins surely was one of the stand out of the 00s. Even thought I had owned a DVD copy of The Crow (1994) since around 2001 or 02, I actually believe I picked it up, because I could not find it longer on VHS, and had yet not bought me a DVD player, so it kind of got "stuck" behind all these others films I later on got on DVD, and when I finally saw it, many, many years later (fall of 2017), I had already seen a few of the other Crow releases, some I thought were very bad or lousy, and a few other, not that much, but it did not really make a good "warm up" for the original. However, when I got around to see the first release, I loved the tone and atmosphere, the soundtrack, and yet, I felt kind of disappointed. Not sure what I had in mind, but maybe the expectations and hype surrounding it, and being built up, for so long, it just was not meant to be, at least for me. However, I am planning on return this fall, as I feel it fits in with the late fall, rainy and dark nights, maybe along with similar looking/themed films, like Sin City or Dark City, but I have a feeling it will do better on a re-watch. Speaking of Darkman, I think they even made a tv-show out of it, but probably one which were very short lived. As a kid, I got quite confused, thought that The Shadow (1994) was Darkman and vice versa. Did not learn or pick up on the fact that Sam Raimi had to create his own super hero, as he did not get a hold of the rights (I think) to make his version of the Shadow, but gotta say, that is kind of cool, getting the chance of making your own super hero, and one which I think resulted in the much better and more enjoyable film, even though The Shadow 90s version, is also very impressive in style and tone, but the story and characters, well, I do not think it quite reaches the same as with those we meet up with, in Darkman.

Damn, I really need to re-watch Batman again. Thanks so much for posting those bad ass images Deb. Michael Keaton looks so intimidating and cool as Batman, quite a change in style from his more comedic and light hearted perfromances during the 80s, and the moment he arrives early on, at the roof top, delivering the classic line: "I am Batman!"It still sends chills down my spine. Still to this day, my favorite Batman actor. And I guess by now, you have seen that he will have a short part in the upcoming Flash movie? Think some images of him in the Batsuit/Batcar is floating around the net, and I kind of are more interested in seeing him, for only a few minutes as Batman, once more, than of the other new and upcoming Batman movie. That last picture of yours, I actually think I had as poster back when I was a little kid, but only with Batman, not the Joker on the TV screens in the background. Anyway, as nice reminder that I should really get going, and watch me some Batman films, soon.

I have heard of Shudder when I have been looking at the latest news on Horror sites but I am pretty sure we don't get that one here in Australia and we didn't get the DC Streaming Service here which I was disappointed over since I wanted to see how many comics were on it but instead we got some of the shows on Fox 8 like 'Doom Patrol' and 'Swamp Thing' on Fox 8. Yeah. I prefer buying Horror movies on DVD and Blu Ray from the shops and most Horror fans I know do too but some of the older ones seem to be really hard to get now and have you ever seen the original 'Fright Night 2' 'cause I did years ago and got it from the local video shop but I haven't been able to get it on DVD and they had it on the American Amazon for over $100 at one point which I thought was a rip off for one movie and now it is on the Australian one for $40 now but it is an import from Spain and we haven't got it 'cause it has Spanish writing on the box and I don't think it is the English version. I am not sure why it is so difficult to get compared to the original and two reboots but I have noticed that with a few and some have gone down a lot in price and are easy to get now but weren't for years. I am pretty impressed with how much they have on Tubi as I was saying on my email to you earlier and it has a pretty decent amount of things for something that is free and I am actually most looking forward to watching a lot of the music concerts and documentaries on there 'cause it has some of the ones we were planning on buying one day but won't have to just to see them now so thank you again for telling me about that since I am not up to date with all the streaming services and what ones you have to pay for and are free.
Yeah, I can relate to having heard about sites like Tubi and Shudder, but somehow they will not work out, at least where I live. Hopefully, that might change some day, as I feel kind of "left" out a bit, still there is just so much lying around for free on Youtube, and other sites, and so little time, to only pick out a few, every once and then. As with you, I do prefer to go with the physical formats, both with music, movies and books, but there is sadly a lot of very, very hard to find films, which also often are ridiculously overpriced, so much, that I feel that there is absolutely no way, I would hand out that kind of crazy money, for just one album or movie, no matter how much I would want it. Speaking of Fright Night 2 (1988), that one had been on my radar for years, where I was almost tempted to dish out a few times, but had read and heard some very nasty stuff about the old Artisan (I believe) DVD release, and that the picture quality was absolute terrible, and then last year, I "stumbled" upon the film in very impressive quality upload at Youtube, and I think it is probably there still, so one can watch it for free. But yeah, sadly it just did not live up to my hope and expectations. It was not bad, but no where near the fun and great entertainment of the original, but if it one day, gets an official DVD/Blu-ray release (not counting the Spanish one) I will be sure to pick it up. When it comes to streaming services, I still have not been all that impressed (at least of what I have seen) of Netflix, which is of course very different in amount of films and tv-shows, than the american one, but every time I visit, I am just stressed out and annoyed at how hard it is, to find something interesting, so in the end, I just give up, and go for something else.

From what I had recalled of seeing the VHS copy on the rental shelves eons ago, I was expecting a cheap exploitation pic (and that Griffith herself was supposed to be the Cherry 2000 of the title). Turned out rather to be sweet and even wistful at times. I especially enjoyed the Ben Johnson scenes.
I have not seen Miracle Mile yet.
