Scanners Ironside put in such a intense and powerful villainous part here. One which I guess along with his later role in Visiting Hours (1982) got him pretty much "locked" up to play the heavy or psycho-baddie for most of his career, which of course is something he sure did very well, but I wonder if his more heroic performances, such as the one he did as Ham Tyler, in the enjoyable miniseries follow up to V The Original Miniseries (1983), The Final Battle (1984) and also continuing into the short lived television series of the series, might have given him more similar roles, if they had arrived at an earlier point. However, I guess looking at his lengthy career, I think he did not regret how the outcome went, but yeah, he is one of those guys who never let you down, no matter how bad or mediocre a film might be, as the moment when you see his name in the titles, you know at least there is something to look forward to. Anyway, I am not sure if I might be able of sneak in more than one Cronenberg film the next couple of days, but Scanners along with Videodrome and Rabid (still not gotten to see that one) are the three I feel I should take a closer look at, then try to pick out one, which is the hard part. Have you by any chance, seen any of the sequels or the goofy spin-offs Scanner Cop movies? I remember picking up the UK Anchor Bay trilogy set back in the day, and while the two follow ups were no where near the first film, I gotta say the did include some amusing and enjoyable moments, of course by the third one, the formula had maybe gotten a bit thin and overused, with more focus on gore and special effects, but still I kind of liked what I got in return.

Douglas Fairbanks Jr, John Houseman, Fred Astaire and Melvyn Douglas in Ghost Story 1981, these old men shares a very dark secret, and that secret is now out for revenge for what they once did.
