It has a good message and the firefighter scenes are well done but the acting, dialogue and some character choices were pretty amateurish. Basically I like the scenes with the firefighters but everything around the marriage didn’t do it for me. I guess by Kirk Cameron standards it’s pretty good. This is the first KC movie I watched BTW. And I only watched it because it was for class. I didnt care for it because I think it got too preachy but its definitely not the worst faith film I seen. I thought it was so weird how Kirk wanted to talk to his dad about his marriage but his dad just pushed religion on him. If you really want batshit crazy see Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas. Its one of the best bad movies ever like The Room or Birdemic. I know about that one. Not sure if I would want to see it though.

Thanks so much gspdude for this excellent pic selection
and for this movie reminder here also . It's been so long since I've seen this I had actually forgot some of the scenes, like Wednesday & pugsly's sword fights. Seems like I'm always watching "Values", a great Thanksgiving movie which I'll probably see again next week.

I also watched this most memorable yet progressive film for it's time
a few nights ago on the channel TCM ( Turner Classic Movies )
and no matter how old this movie is it just gets better with age ( IMPO ) .
Also read the book in high school back in the day too
and just could not put it down
it was a real page turner indeed .
I will admit it's a real heartbreaking storyline but it's definitely an historical one we will never forget either
( IMPO - it seems to be a storyline that we can all learn from as well ) .
Thanks so much Red Horizon for these excellent pic selections
and for this wonderful film reminder here too . Thanks mszanadu. I couldn't convincingly pick out what those progressive elements were. Also, before watching it, I had the notion the movie was in colour.

I also really like the sword fight stage scene
that Wednesday & Pugsly both played out wonderfully yet messy too ( just the look of total shock on the audience faces was priceless ) .
I'm definitely a fan of both films
and usually watch these back to back also .
I agree these films are an absolute must to watch on Thanksgiving Day too ( I have both these movies on VHS
and are in really great shape after all these years ) .
Thanks so much again gspdude for your reply here too .

 Rope (1948)
Most definitely another favorite
Alfred Hitchcock film of mine here too ( and also have this one on DVD ) .
was just perfect as character Rupert Cadell
very clever and smart indeed .
Also the alluring music scores ,
the intriguing camera angles ,
and the rest of the all star cast
was truly memorable ( IMPO ) .
Thanks so much Ass_E9 for this awesome pic selection
and for this movie reminder here too .

I certainly never tire of this most sentimental classic
my favorite fun yet clever scene & song
in this film was " pink elephants " .
Thanks so much jamesbamesy for this wonderful pic selection
