Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat (1989) Oooh, I just saw that one for the first time a few months back! It was a ton of fun- fast-paced and action packed, full of creative ideas surrounding vampire lore, it's got a great semi-hammy turn from David Carradine, Bruce Campbell (who looks weirdly kind of attractive with a mustache) adding another slapstick-y action hero to his oeuvre, and a supporting cast that can't be beat. I will say, the lead family are a touch bland, but I suppose that's the point to have these average characters dropped into the middle of all this vampire craziness.

I am glad I finally saw it, but yeah, the bits with the drama, surrounding the suburban family did kind of take up a little too much of the time, at least so I thought. Would have loved to see way more of guys like Bruce Campbell, David Carradine, M. Emmet Walsh and of course, the stunning Deborah Foreman as well. I enjoy these western/vampire themed films, and somehow it reminded me a little of some of the same atmosphere of the Tremors franchise. Might just be my favorite among the films of Anthony Hickox.

Yeah, I can kinda see that. Plus, Sunshine Parker pops up in both of them.

The Shadow (1994). Penelope Ann Miller was such a babe back then. A shame that the film never got any sequel, as for me, surely The Shadow was the best or most enjoyable of the early to mid 90s superhero/adventures (The Rocketeer and The Phantom among the many) that seemed to be set during the 1930s and 40s, instead of modern time.
