Good stuff! It's hard to pick a favorite Coen Bros. film, but 'Miller's Crossing' probably takes the cake. As good as Byrne and Finney were, it's Jon Polito that I absolutely adore in that movie.
I definitely need to see more Bunuel. I think 'The Phantom of Liberty' is the only of his I have in my collection.
They do make it hard to pick a favorite. I'd probably go with The Man Who Wasn't There. Miller's Crossing might make my Top 5. Hoping to rewatch a lot of their stuff soon. The Phantom of Liberty is one of the two from that set I haven't previously seen, but it's been a while since I've seen anything by him. I'd like to get some more but a lot of it is only on Criterion, which is pretty pricey, especially if you're not in the US. Speaking of pricey, I've been salivating over this set... Of course, when you break it down, I suppose it's just around 5 bucks a film. Can't see myself turning this down.

I've seen that. Very good value considering what you get. Even though already own about half the films I'd love to get the set. Problem is it's only on Blu-ray as far as I'm aware and I don't have a multi-region Blu-ray player. It's almost worth it as an investment though being a limited edition. The similar Kurosawa set from a few years back (25 films on DVD) now sells for $1000 and up. |

I recently acquired the Scorpion Blu-ray of Death Ship myself. I'll be watching the movie in October. I have the original Scorpion Blu-ray of The Unseen. I didn't see the need to upgrade to this latest version. I think the only difference between the new and old blu of 'The Unseen' is the cover art. I had missed out on the previous version, so I'm really glad it came back in print.
'Death Ship' is awesome. I upgraded from DVD on that one.
Actually, there's supposed to be one new interview on the new "Unseen" Blu. With the editor, I believe. |

"Planet Terror" is great fun. I've never watched "Death Proof", however. "Krull" is great 80s fantasy fare. I want a Glaive.

I have that Mill Creek Blu of My Science Project. It'd be nice to see it get a better release now that KL Studio Classics has access to a fair amount of the Touchstone / Hollywood Pictures filmography. I've never seen the Porky's sequels. The original, of course, is a classic of its genre. Electra Glide in Blu is a definite overlooked gem. Elisha Cook gives a standout performance. Pumpkinhead II is a surprisingly decent sequel. I haven't seen 3 and 4, but I don't hear good things.

I remember thinking 'Identity' would be typical Hollywood fodder, but I actually was quite impressed by it. What a terrific atmosphere they created.
'Planet Terrer' is indeed great fun. I was sorely disappointed by 'Death Proof' so don't feel bad if you never get around to it.
