DVDThe Young One [1960] Valerie and Her Week of Wonders Black Society Trilogy: Shinjuku Triad Society - Rainy Dog - Ley LinesBlu-rayThe Happiness of the Katakuris Nice! I love 'Valerie and Her Week of Wonders' and 'The Happiness of the Katakuris'. DVDs I purchase quite often (usually) end up sitting on my shelf for weeks, even months before I view them. Funnily I watched both of those in the last 24 hours. Loved Valerie, was expecting a little more from The Katakuris, but still an enjoyably weird little oddity.

I can totally relate about films sitting on the shelf. There's several that I'll probably not even bother with, though I must say, they make lovely wall decoration. I really had no expectations for THOTK, so maybe that's why I liked it so much. Quirkiness just does it for me sometimes. Glad you still enjoyed it though.
"Valerie" really has it all, doesn't it... the imagery/photography/cinematography along with the superb film score... just a damned masterpiece really. Plus I love how it's essentially a coming of age story told through the lens of the horror genre.

Guess I was expecting a bit more horror/zombie action from The KatakurisWith Valerie I just got immersed in the visuals and the dreamlike structure. Really is a one-of-a-kind. Think I'll appreciate it even more on a re-watch.

I recently acquired the Scorpion Blu-ray of Death Ship myself. I'll be watching the movie in October. I have the original Scorpion Blu-ray of The Unseen. I didn't see the need to upgrade to this latest version.

Coal Miner's Daughter is an excellent musical biography, one of the best made by Hollywood. Sissy Spacek is sensational in it. That Payback Time triple feature Blu is a gem.

I had missed out on the previous version, so I'm really glad it came back in print.
'Death Ship' is awesome. I upgraded from DVD on that one.

Vincent Price is terrific as always in 'The Tingler'. Very fun movie.
I could probably use an upgrade of 'Super Fly' myself. I'm pretty sure I've got the old cardboard with plastic clip edition DVD.

Blu-rayMiller's CrossingDVDThe Man Without a MapLuis Bunuel Collection - Diary of a Chambermaid, Belle de Jour, Milky Way, Tristana, The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, The Phantom of Liberty, That Obscure Object of Desire Good stuff!
It's hard to pick a favorite Coen Bros. film, but 'Miller's Crossing' probably takes the cake. As good as Byrne and Finney were, it's Jon Polito that I absolutely adore in that movie.
I definitely need to see more Bunuel. I think 'The Phantom of Liberty' is the only of his I have in my collection.

They do make it hard to pick a favorite. I'd probably go with The Man Who Wasn't There. Miller's Crossing might make my Top 5. Hoping to rewatch a lot of their stuff soon. The Phantom of Liberty is one of the two from that set I haven't previously seen, but it's been a while since I've seen anything by him. I'd like to get some more but a lot of it is only on Criterion, which is pretty pricey, especially if you're not in the US.
