...it must be a high quality vodka sauce...!!! Brand doesn't matter... I have always wondered about vodka sauce. Is it proper to add ingredients as you would with most spaghetti sauce ? I always doctor up a marinara with ground meat (usually beef and/or pork). And does it have to be served with penne or can you put it on spaghetti? I am interested to know what are its best uses. To answer the OQ, I think I like Ragu Garden Vegetable the best.

I am Happy with HUNT's - especially the chunky veggie variety. Mostly use it as a base and add more veggies and meats. My garden tomatoes refuse to cook down to sketti sauce thickness. Don't like the jars with shoulders and so go for the canned sauce.

...vodka sauce can be used like any other pasta sauce. Add cooked ground beef, meatballs or just serve it plain. I like it in all these ways, usually with thick spaghetti...

My friend Rita gave me this recipe and we really like it.
this is fast easy and pretty darn good, most of the seasonings are approximates.
1 lb ground beef 1 medium onion, chopped 1/2 cup chopped green pepper mince a couple of garlic cloves or use garlic powder saute
1 24 oz jar ragu sauce add oregano...1/2 tsp (or to taste) 4 or 5 bay leaves Simmer for a few minutes, or 1/2 an hour if desired

White clam sauce,Progresso, with added whole baby clams. I ate so much red gravy as a kid I came to dislike it.

All the ones pictured look great except Hunt's. Tried it a few times and to me it was like heating up tomato juice and pouring it over spaghetti. Below is my favorite by far but you can only get it in the Columbus, Ohio area. They make many different flavors than The one I pictured below. I see several of you mentioned Vodka Sauce. They make it also as you can see in the last picture. Next time I am in Columbus I am going to try it. If any of you are ever in the Columbus, Ohio area I highly recommend trying it.

That hunt's would be mine ! BUT in my defense --- I tend to add all sorts of goodies of the meat and veggie variety so the canned/jarred sauce is more just a start for the culinary delights that will eventually emerge and Hunts is always on sale for 10 for $10 soooooo.... PLUS it's thicker than my home frozen tomatoes !
