I've always thought that name, rather than facial, recognition must represent the best kind of celebrity: drop it in the right places and it gets attention and action, but still go where you like and nobody bothers or notices you. I imagine Harpo and Chico enjoyed that all their lives, but once Groucho abandoned the greasepaint 'stache and eyebrows and put his real face on TV, it probably no longer worked that way. Groucho claimed to feel that way at first, in keeping with his misanthrope persona, but he eventually grew tired of his brothers being the ones recognized (and fawned over), so he grew the real life mustache. I hadn't heard that, but I love it! It does remind me of a story about Groucho becoming irritated with Sam Goldwyn, whose customary greeting to him was, "How's Harpo?" One day, Groucho had had enough and protested, "Sam, every time you see me, that's all you ask: 'How's Harpo;' 'How's Harpo?' What about asking me how I am once in a while?" A chastened Goldwyn said, "How are you, Groucho?" Groucho told him, "I'm fine, Sam, just great, thanks." And then Goldwyn asked, "And how's Harpo?"

Robert Redford has a credit in Tall Story (1960) as "basketball player". Gary Lockwood is credited as "Russian Basketball Player". Lockwood had been a stunt man and a stand-in for Anthony Perkins before he started acting. If any images of these two actors in this film can be located. PLEASE post them here
Just learned this : the 1960s female caricatures arenβt too far off from your own modern day life experiences. Joshua Loganβs Tall Story is a fun, light-hearted romantic comedy with a lot of what you might expect from a film made in 1960 and so much more. Anthony Perkins and Jane Fonda (in her debut role) are perfectly cast in their roles, their young, flustered chemistry crackling off the screen and actually making their swift romance convincing and sympathetic.
