I really don't get what's so special about this film. Aside from the acting I really was not impressed. What am I missing here? I can't believe this film got the critical acclaim that it did.
5/10

I've nothing against the genre but is there anything remarkable about the script or Gerwig's direction?

I had felt no emotion for any of the characters despite the acting being good. The film just kinda jumps around from scene to scene for 90 minutes. Last year's coming of age, 'Moonlight', was a lot better. 'Lady Bird' also didn't have a memorable score which I think is an important aspect to have in this type of film. I think of the reasons that made 'Moonlight' good was that the score was so freaking beautiful.

I just saw 'A Ghost Story' as well and thought it was a lot more memorable, thought provoking as well as heartbreaking.

Gotta say I was thoroughly charmed by this movie. Although I was never in a Catholic school, nor a girl, there was a lot that rang true and seemed familiar about it. Chalk it up to universality of themes.
