Take away the unpleasantness surrounding the proceedings, this is a pretty "meh" ceremony this year.

I stopped after the first little bit. Happy to hear Franco won, I loved him in The Disaster Artist.

It was cool seeing Kirk Douglas on stage. Sweet that CZJ brought him out.

For crying out loud, Oprah made a link between Rosa Parks and the #Metoo movement.

What was Gerwig rambling on about? Her movie isn't showing half of what she claimed it is about.

I guess I missed Gerwig then by mistake. It was a 30 secs speech about her movie just to introduce the people actually talking about a category. I saw Lady Bird and it was pretty average. Now, Saoirse Ronan just won for her role... I guess this year it's all about women just like last year Oscars were all about african-americans (after the previous year "debacle"). It's not about merit but political.

Happy Oldman won but damn those quick shots of all the others : Hanks had that ugly fake smile on, Day-Lewis seemed ready to kills someone, Chalamet didn't seem to understand what happened but the focus was more on the big bosom of the girl next to him and Denzel seemed drunk and ready to scream "bullshit".

I half expected some sort of emotional outburst from at least someone tonight.

I half expected some sort of emotional outburst from at least someone tonight. Denzel really looked like he had quite a few drinks and his expression was really that he was sick and tired of all that. Strangely he seemed to be seated really far from the stage compared to everybody else. I saw Roman Israel and I don't think he deserved the award but he did seem tired of what he saw. I mean, last year at the Oscars he was boiling, mad, in his seat when Affleck won. Or someone should have pulled a Depardieu (if you don't understand french, his daugther just won the César but he showed, uninvited on scene, quite drunk, and starts telling all kind of stuff) :

Glad Gary Oldman won! Oprah gave a powerhouse speech. She made one flub saying "persecuted" instead of "prosecuted". I'm happy that Frances won, but I would have liked Sally Hawkins to win. Glad Guillermo del Toro won. Nolan will get his Globe (and Oscar) one day! Love Sterling K. Brown. Tommy Wiseau made a surprise appearance. I still like Kirk Douglas. He's a survivor and a living relic of classic Hollywood. I'm not really sure if he really raped Natalie Wood. Also, it is difficult to understand what he was saying, and turning on closed captioning didn't help.
I laughed a couple of times during Seth Meyer's monologue. I'm a little disappointed at the lack of an "In Memoriam" segment, but they would have left off so many recognizable people.
Overall, it was a decent Golden Globes ceremony.

To be honest...I got tired of the Weinstein and spacey jokes after the first few minutes and turned it off. Not because I defend them but you could tell it made things awkward.

That was the whole point - to make this awkward. Delivered by an equally awkward and anxious host, Seth Meyers. And I can't say that I don't blame him. It wouldn't have been easy for anyone to get up there and deliver that monologue.

I'm glad Ms. Maisel won. That show was a pleasant surprise and it vaulted up my favorites list.
I don;t think it was better than Master of None's 2nd season (Also a pleasant surprise after not being impressed with the first season), but it needs more recognition on Amazon than Azari needs on Netflix whose shows seem to get more buzz even if they are often not better.

I recorded the live showing in the afternoon (it was replayed in prime time here) so I could just skip parts which didn't interest me. Thrilled that Sam Rockwell and Frances McDormand and the film won!! Loved the look on Barbra Streisand's face when Halle Berry came out in her short dress.

By the time Berry's her age, she'll still be hotter than half the audience.
