Anyone hoping the 5th will happen or should be left alone?

#2 is the best sequel and the best Lethal Weapon movie. I don't want to see a fifth film. Gibson and Glover are too old and Richard Donner is 87 years old.

2...and it might even be better than the first film.

2 wins based on the toilet scene, which is collectively all I remember in the sequels besides Joe Pesci mugging.

2, then 4, then 3. I have a special place in my heart for all of them though. I love Lethal Weapon. I actually enjoy the show too.

2 easily and I agree with Marv that it might be better than the original. Love 4 as well, 3 is just average though.

Funny I actually liked 3 a little better than 2. I guess because the whole "racist" South African thing in part 2 is very dated. "Kaffir" indeed.

The second one. Gibson I could buy but Glover is literally too old for this shit.

If a new film was made today, he'd probably be near 80.

In November 2017, Mel Gibson hinted that a fifth movie might happen and that himself along with Richard Donner and Danny Glover have discussed the idea to return. In December 2017, Donner confirmed in an interview on the Spocklight podcast that Gibson and Glover have agreed to return as Riggs and Murtaugh respectively and that he has a story all set. The only obstacle is Warner Bros. Pictures greenlighting the film and Donner has recruited Channing Gibson, the original screenwriter from the fourth film, to begin writing the script. The story will take place in present day and will be the final film in the series

I posted this is in another thread about LW2 and while I enjoy the film, I have a couple major issues with it: 1.) The lame retconning. I just never cared for the retcon that the South African henchman was behind the death of Riggs's wife. It acts as a cheap device to make the villains more evil. We already know these guys are racist criminal pricks, so why do we need this reveal? One of the things I liked in LW1 was how Riggs is able to get behind his wife's death and move on. When someone is made to be behind her death and Riggs can take them out, it sort of cheapens his arc in the original. 2.) Lackluster love interest. Patsy Kensit's a very attractive woman, but she's a very bland romantic foil for Riggs and they don't have much chemistry together. Say what you want about LW's 3&4, but at least there was some spark between Gibson and Russo. Now all that said, I still enjoy the film. Gibson and Glover continue to have great chemistry and Pesci's a good addition to the series. The film has many funny bits (the bomb on the toilet and Glover's daughter in the condom commercial) and some thrilling action. While 2 is the best sequel, I actually like all the sequels about the same. 3 has the weakest villains of the series, yet it has some fun action sequences (the opening car chase, motorcycle chase and finale at the real estate complex) and Rene Russo's a good addition to the cast and she's got enjoyable chemistry with Gibson. 4 suffers from too many characters (Chris Rock is clearly out of place) and was made on a rushed schedule, but it offers Jet Li's villain who provides some brutal fight scenes and a great climactic three-way battle. I'm not sure I want a 5th one. They ended Riggs & Murtaugh's story in 4 (Riggs gets married with a child and visits his wife's grave, Murtaugh becomes a grandfather) and I just don't see what else there is to do with these characters 20 years later.

I don't think you have to use spoiler tags for a 30-year-old movie. I agree with all your criticisms about the second movie. I would have to re-watch the second and third ones. I always went back and forth on which one of them I liked better. I think people overreact the second one and underrate the third one. I always enjoyed them both.

I prefer Lethal Weapon 2 over the original. Perfect mix of action, drama and comedy. Best buddy cop film ever IMO.
