Hello fellow foodie friends. I'm heading to Cape Town next month and I'm curious for any and all food recommendations. Great local cuisine, street-market type stuff preferred. Open to all!
Thanks!!

Nobody? Not one person has been? For shame, food board. Tsk tsk.

Nobody? Not one person has been? For shame, food board. Tsk tsk. No, I've not been to Cape Town. I envy you, your plans. My "to visit," list is long ... and growing. Is this your first visit? I ask, because your original post asks for "...any and all food recommendations. Great local cuisine, street-market type stuff preferred. Open to all!" That gives (me) the impression that it will be new territory, for you. I wonder if your post is meant to gather experience-based suggestions ... or, to scorn others for travel opportunities, which may not have come their way. Enjoy your trip.

Wasn't meant to scorn anyone. I felt it reasonably likely that on this, a food board, someone would have had the pleasure of going there. People post here from all over the world, it's a hot tourist landing spot and has a reputation for being a food mecca of sorts. I am somewhat surprised that among all of us, nobody has been there. Alas.

I know of a Cape Town, South Africa, but that is quite a long way to go for dinner. Is there another Cape Town I have missed? Sorry. A bit confused.

Klawrencio79 ... I sincerely apologize if I mistook the intent of your post. I guess the terms "shame," and "tsk tsk," misguided my conclusion. In the history of the Food & Drink board (both the original IMDb version, and v2.0), I only recall one frequent poster who shared that she had lived in South Africa, for a few years. On the board, she posted from Finland. I wish that she, and others who represented a more international roster of participants, were back. If we still have an international community, here, I'd love to see posters mention their regions. That was great fun. It appears ... and I may be wrong ... that we're (almost) all from North America. Again enjoy your trip. And, please share your food experiences in Cape Town, when you have time, during the visit - or, when you get home.

I should choose my words more carefully. I'll definitely share my thoughts, most likely when I return home. The city seems to have tons of tasting menus that are pretty cheap.
