Just thought I would share this. Arrow Midseason Return Trailer Pits Oliver Against James’ Army Oliver (Stephen Amell) will be missing half of his team when he faces off against Cayden James (Michael Emerson) and his army in the upcoming midseason premiere of Arrow. In an extended trailer, fans can see a short-handed Team Arrow clash with James and his allies.
The fall finale didn’t end well for Team Arrow. After Oliver learned that someone on the team was prepared to testify that he was the Green Arrow, Oliver became suspicious of the three newest additions to the team: Curtis (Echo Kellum), Rene (Rick Gonzalez) and Dinah (Juliana Harkavy). Dinah’s secret involving the Vigilante (Johann Urb) caused her to be the prime suspect, when in fact the real traitor was Rene. Rene was initially forgiven, but was fired after making a second mistake. Wounded by Oliver’s lack of trust, Curtis and Dinah quit the team as well.
The CW has released an extended trailer for the midseason premiere of Arrow that shows Cayden James continuing to be a formidable enemy for Oliver, whose team has already been crippled by the events of the fall finale. Oliver reiterates that they can’t go into the field with people they can’t trust, while Diggle (David Ramsey) seems to believe that their former teammates deserve another chance. Meanwhile, Curtis tries to talk Rene and Dinah into forming their own team of vigilantes.

While Team Arrow remains fractured, James’ group appears united. James, Black Siren (Katie Cassidy), Ricardo Diaz (Kirk Acevedo), Anatoly (David Nykl), and Vigilante were recently revealed to be working together. This twist causes season 6 to deviate from the formula of past seasons in terms of the show’s approach to villains. So far, each season has had its own “big bad” for Oliver to fight. This time, Team Arrow will have to deal with multiple villains, in keeping with the season’s theme of family.
With Oliver up against multiple enemies—not including FBI agent, Samandra Watson, who still wants to indict him—it’s not clear if the team will be able to survive without reuniting the group. It remains to be seen if Oliver will stick with the original trio, make amends with the others, or call in old friends like Roy (Colton Haynes), who we know will be in season 6 at some point.

Season 6 of Arrow returns with “Divided” on Thursday, January 18th at 9pm on The CW. screenrant.com/arrow-midseason-return-trailer-pits-oliver-james-army/

I liked the ending of the last episode of Arrow where all the villains were standing together talking about their plans. It was such a classic villain moment and I was waiting for someone to say and together we shall rule this world hahahahaha.

My brother pointed out this is becoming an ongoing theme with Oliver. He gets mad at his team or overly protective, so he goes it alone. Only this time the villain is aware of this and has set up things to get Oliver to resort to this destructive behavior. He should have learned by now that this kind of behavior hurts him more then it helps, and hopefully this time Oliver learns. Because that's good characterization, learning from your mistakes and growing as person so you don't keep making them. Bad characterization i making a character's personal growth stagnant just for the sake of the status quo and it makes your job as a writer easier.

Except this time Oliver didn't choose o go it alone, hell this time really wasn't him at all, they scrubs bailed on him because they couldn't trust him, so they are instead forming a true B team with the guy they know is a known vigilante and who they know grassed on Oliver, because that's logical, it's the same result but atleast how they got their is different, also Oliver didn't make this choice alone both Felicity & Diggle were in on it so atleast Oliver didn't go all lone wolf for once.

The odds are too stacked against him this time and even Diggle is not going to be able to change that. He's going up against an army. There was 30 people there minimum and they are waiting for him to arrive. Unless he plans on pulling some serious Houdini shit this time he's a goner.

I finally saw last week's episode, and you're right. Oliver knows he can't do it on his own and has tried to forge alliances that could take down Team Evil. Both blew up in his face. Which is how we get Roy and Helena back in the show. he needs help and they're all he has left.
Well until Curtis, Dinah, and Renee find out they are way over their heads and come crawling back.

I think something is going to happen to Curtis, Dinah and Renee which will lead to them going back to 'Team Arrow' and they will most likely get captured or one of them will get badly injured and Oliver will have to help them. I am not sure if there are going to be any Green Arrow/ Flash crossover episodes this season but I remember reading there was supposed to be a Supergirl/ Green Arrow crossover so Oliver might get Supergirl to help him fight Cayden James to even up the odds. Only that Barry Allen is in prison at the moment I am surprised he hasn't tried to contact Barry for help. You said your brother thinks Oliver needs to stop "going at it alone" so I don't understand why he doesn't turn to somebody like the Flash, Supergirl or one of the characters in 'Legends of Tomorrow.'

Yeah, that's my thoughts too. They are going to find themselves way over their head and someone will get seriously hurt, possibly captured, or killed. My money is on Mad Dog. I just have a feeling they're setting him up for a tragic fall this season. Getting Supergirl's help won't even the field. It will give Team Arrow a huge advantage. Heck, Supergirl could take out Team Evil in a matter of seconds. While Oliver sits at home watching movies with his son.
But Supergirl is busy with Reign, Barry is in jail and refuses to escape, Team Flash is busy holding down the fort, and he has no way to contact the Legends. Though it's probably for the best not to invite them as they will probably do something that accidentally helps Team Evil and then spend 40 minutes arguing with each other.

That's sort of the funny thing if you think about it each hero has villains the other teams could easily defeat, Supergirl would make mince meat out of the James gang, Oliver could probably slaughter Reign given the right tools, Flash could handle the time demon dude due to his own powers being godlike also and Thinker couldn't outsmart the Legends because he's only smart not demented so any logical ploy to fuck with them would only aid them given they only succeed by screwing up anyway.

So we need a superhero swap to resolve all problems this year? Too bad they don't contact each to fight problems more than once a year.

This season is going to end with another member of Team Arrow dying or getting seriously injured and I hope it is Renee so they can replace him with Arrowette next season and we no longer have to put up with his traitorous ways. I didn't mind Renee that much to begin with but I think he is the weakest link of the team and he has proven he can't be trusted time and time again. I haven't seen the latest episode of 'Arrow' yet but I just read Vigilante gets killed off this week which makes absolutely no sense to me 'cause I didn't think he was able to die with his healing powers but it sounds like the writers have changed their minds. Supergirl would give Team Arrow a huge advantage but she is busy with Reign and Barry is in jail. Still there are other heroes we have had in this show that haven't been seen for a while that they could bring back to help Oliver. I mean where is Vixen who is Oliver's friend? It made no sense why he didn't turn to her for help last season when he had to return to the island to face Prometheus. With Deathstroke off the table now it makes me wonder if Deathstroke was originally supposed to be assisting Oliver in these episodes.
