www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/22085338/pittsburgh-pirates-trade-rhp-gerrit-cole-houston-astrosSo: "The deal was announced Saturday. In exchange, the Pirates received right-handers Joe Musgrove and Michael Feliz, third baseman Colin Moran and outfielder Jason Martin." "Cole, 27, went 12-12 with a 4.26 ERA, 196 strikeouts and 55 walks while making a career-high 33 starts in 2017. On Friday, Cole and the Pirates reached agreement on a one-year contract worth $6.75 million. He had one year of arbitration remaining and was likely to command a huge raise in 2019, one of the reasons the Pirates had considered trading him." So I ask.....is he good? We got Verlander, Keuchel, Morton, McCullers, and now Cole. This should also help our bullpen and we can put Peacock as a RP, maybe the set up guy (He looked awesome this post season and our bullpen is our weak point.) IDK much about Cole, hopefully there are some big baseball fans who can tell me what the deal is. I hope to hear from a few! TY for any replies my friends.

Yeah Cole is good, this is a terrific move for the Astros. They got a strong pitcher and didn’t give up a lot for him, Cole is very solid and consistent, last year was actually his weakest year, first time his ERA was over 4.00, very solid, accurate, throws fast, solid breaking ball as well.

Yea I was looking his stats up and I was like wow! Im jc.....with Verlander/Keuchel/McCullers/Morton/Peacock/and now Cole, am I right? Peacock to the bullpen (Our bullpen is imho the weakest part of our team. I know you watched the WS, and Peacock did come through in clutch spots and would help our bullpen so much). But where do you put Cole in the lineup? Verlander is probably the 1, right? Would Cole be the 2-3-4-5? Again, tyvm for the info...and yea, he's only 27 and we didnt have to give up key pieces.

I think Verlander, Keuchel and Cole could really be an interchangeable 1-2-3, Cole will probably go 3, don’t know if Verlander or Keuchel will be the ace. The bullpen is the Astros weakest spot, although it’s not that bad, Harris, Devenski and Giles are all solid and Peacock will help.
