Has Bortles even been hit today? He's had all the time in the world.

It's only 14 points with almost half the forth quarter to go. The elite quarterbacks make this comeback.

And that may have done it. Ace throw from bigtime Bortles for a huge Jag TD. Oh yeh.

You know your QB is bad when you've scored 42 points and he only has one TD pass.

You know your QB is bad when you've scored 42 points and he only has one TD pass. He doesn't like to hog the limelight. He gives everybody a chance to shine.

That lateral into a TD for Pittsburgh was nuts!

You know your QB is bad when you've scored 42 points and he only has one TD pass. 94.1 of rating so far, which is considered to be a reasonably good rating. Mid-90s to the 100 range is generally considered a good rating. Nowadays, mediocre quarterbacks tend to have ratings around 80 to 85, with bad quarterbacks being in the 60 to 70 range. Top flight quarterbacks are in the 110 to 120 range. Ben's is 110.1 currently.

They should have kicked it off, clearly.

Horrible onside kick. The Steelers are probably doomed now.

Such a great game to have it end on a muffed onside kick. Pittsburgh got greedy. They should of just kicked it away and tried to force a 3 and out. Now Jacksonville is in Pittsburgh territory and a FG will ice this thing.

About the idea that trying the onside kick was stupid, do take into consideration that the Steelers' defense has been pitiful so there was no guarantee that they'd get a 3-and-out. I see more problems in the execution of the onside kick than in the decision to try it.

Announcers are right, Steelers didn't need to onside kick. You put your season on one throw of the dice with a low probability of success. To use another gambling analogy, its about like drawing into an inside straight. Foolish play calling killed Pittsburgh. Two lousy 4th down calls, never pressuring Bortles.

True but then if they hadn't onside kicked and the Jags ran the ball with several first downs like they've been doing and ran the clock down everybody would be saying "they should have tried an onside kick." The fact that the Jags did go 3-and-out after the onside kick tends to confirm your view, but it's different when you are trying to get FG position rather than just trying to get first downs to run down the clock.

Did the Steelers ever blitz Bortles? I don't ever remember one. When you have a less that stellar QB who's confidence is shaky, you pressure the shit out of him. The Bills knocked him on his ass a few times. But Pittsburgh made it easy for BB. He didn't have a great game, but no INT's, no sacks, no fumbles.
You can bet your last dollar New England will make Mr. Bortles life a living hell next week.
