That's fine. I offered it anyway.... I can't even thank you for it either because it wasn't helpful at all. Really?

I always thought it was used to make sure the post caught the attention of the tagged poster. Not some kind of bad thing meant by doing it. A way to reply to someone in a thread without quoting him. Well there is more to it than that. I don't like the feature and I've asked that person to remove the tag.

It's to draw someone's attention to a thread or comment they may be interested in that they may miss if not subscribed to the thread or just as a direct reply to someone with out quoting them so they know you are talking to them Most forums have it.

In other words, it's to establish a link between the comment made by the poster to his/her profile, so that others can read it. I blocked that user who tagged me. I see. I don't understand the purpose of it. I don't blame you for blocking the person. It seems to me that before someone does that s/he should contact the person they wish to tag first to ask if it's okay. I agree.

I can't even thank you for it either because it wasn't helpful at all. Really? No help whatsoever. And he lied. Imdb doesn't have a tag feature. It never did. If someone links your comments to your profile they are using a third party site like Boardreader. I saw him being very helpful to someone else in another thread. And people wonder why some black women are so independent. It's because nobody is willing to help her, so she gets used to doing for herself and then people see that and either try to take advantage of her or make her life harder. I won't ask any posters for help or advice anymore. I'm through. But don't expect me to go out of my way for anyone either. I just asked a simple question. It's not as if I was asking you to solve Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Perhaps I should have just to see how smart people here really are.

I thought... Quoting allows for a second person to respond to the first person, by quoting what the first person said... & Tagging was a way for the second person to respond to the first person, without having to quote the first person.
Either way, the first person still gets a notification that the second person is talking to the first person, so the first person knows there has been a response to the first person's post... Unless the first person has those notification settings turned off in the first person's profile.
This can be very useful, when the second person wants to reply to multiple posts from the first person, or multiple people, instead of just one post from the first person.
Other than that, as far as I know, there is no difference between Tagging and Quoting.
I'm not sure why some members are freaking out over being Tagged, when they are not freaking out about being Quoted, especially when Quotes can be altered by the second person...

I don't see the purpose of tagging, then. I don't get it. In other words, it's to establish a link between the comment made by the poster to his/her profile, so that others can read it. I blocked that user who tagged me. Why did you block a user for tagging you? All you have done, is prevented YOURSELF from seeing THEIR threads & posts. They call still see yours. BTW, In case you didn't know, all anyone has to do, is click on your name on any post you make... and they can go view your profile. Members on IMDb could do this too...

MCDemuth : I wonder if you can tag yourself... In my worst nightmares, I never thought I would witness a moose tagging himself in a public forum.

Now please remove the tag you placed on my comment. You know that I don't like it. I sent you a private message asking you to. You haven't responded.
