I've have checked out several alternatives, and from what I've seen, this one is actually the best, and has the most traffic. If this place does die, I don't think it will be for a while. But I don't think it will die. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.

But I don't think it will die. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. This site is easily the best alternative. There might be others that look more like IMDB and others that have individual boards but it doesn't matter in the slightest because there's a fraction of the amount of people on those compared to this. This site doesn't need to die out because if this goes then it's over with. Thankfully this does seem to have regulars and people are making an effort to post but the big problem is that it's sort of struggling to get new users at a good pace. Which is understandable because if you never never about it then it's going to be very hard to find.

imho the reason for the decline is the the lack of content. the content of imdb is the database. without a database a forum is useless. the pricks from amazon and the prick colneedham knew this. there will be no replacement . unfortunately. You speak the truth. Nothing will ever beat IMDB. But this forum is the best you are going to get i think.

i'm hoping for some really big movie news, something like a star wars 8 teaser to come along, not that all the people on here are sw fans but something like that will at least give people something to talk a lot about and debate for a while and their will be more action, then hopefully more news will come along in waves as the summer movies approach.

I think the problem is there isn't a lot of movie discussion. When I scroll through my Tapatalk feed, almost every new thread/post is in the political forum.

It was obvious that this board couldn't sustain, because it has nowhere from which to recruit new members. That means that whilst people will stop posting here, there will be nobody coming in to replace them. Although, having said that, I had hoped for the decline not to occur so quickly.

I had made a suggestion that the admin make separate movie boards for upcoming big movies every month or so.
So we'd have sub boards for Logan, Skull Island, Beauty and the Beast and Power Rangers right now.
Then next month he'd make one for Fate of the Furious, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Alien: Convenant, Pirates of the Caribbean etc.
Obviously you can't have boards for every movie but having boards for all the popular movies when they're at peak discussion time I thought was a good idea

I just went to themovieorg and signed up. I am not impressed - although some of the movie pages are cool, and find this site far easier to navigate. I clicked onto their General Discussions page and saw a thread - started by a notorious troll from the IMDB, which dissed this site. And not only did it diss this site, the poster concerned was upset because he was deleted here for a racist comment. He then dissed the IMDB2 moderator who deleted him. I have known this moderator since IMDB forum days, consider him an online friend, and I will not be going back to themoviedb.org. I am going to give IMDB2 my best shot and sincerely hope it succeeds and grows stronger and stronger with every day. Oh, you think General is bad? Look in the Soapbox. Ben is running rampant over there. but, ben was just as cantankerous on O-IMDb and admins did jack shit. you at least are present enough. but you are in charge. deal with him if you dislike what he is about.

if you think the forum is losing steam, then be thankful that most of the posters have better things to do with their time than putz on the internet.

I'm new here and was enjoying the fast pace. I'm a bit bummed that it's been slowing down lately. True I enjoy RFS and SB and I like that heated debates are okay and encouraged. I was posting about a TV series and was given attitude because I hadn't seen the series yet, and came here to discuss it. It was suggested I go to Amazon if I wanted to read reviews. Those kinds of comments are not going to encourage people to stick around and post.
There are some users (no not Ben) who are spamming the SB now, which is really annoying. It's not negative attacks or porn or anything like that, but when we log on and see the entire page filled from one user, that, too, does not encourage participation.
I really like this board, and of the ones I've checked out, this one has been a lot more fun and yes, a lot more active, than the other ones I've seen. I don't use FB or use other types of social media, so I really like participating in forums. It's okay if we wax and wane, but I do hope things pick up. It was fun to ride the wave.
I'm sticking around anyway....

I noticed its going downhill. We need IMBD back. There is too few people on here. You end up talking to the same 9 or 10 people every time/. Its getting boooooooooring. We should find something else. Maybe the reddit is better.

I've paid attention to the amount of active users on the forum ever since IMDB closed. For consistency around the same hours (8-10pm) In the days after IMDB went down there were roughly 230-250 users online at one time. Then compare to the numbers in the past few days and they've been closer to 130-150 users online. That's a hefty decline. The amount of users online in the past 24 hours has also decreased by a similar proportion. Posts seem to be slowing down. Before I'd refresh the home page every few seconds only to see that there'd be new posts. As of right now though there hasn't been a new post in the past 3 minutes. The forum gained 2,000 users in it's first 3 weeks by the time IMDB closed. In the 2 weeks since it's only gained another 700 users. This is exactly what I was concerned and said was going to happen. The forum would boom following IMDB's closure as regulars would want to keep the board experience alive but over time people would get over it being gone. Users would start to show up less, there'd be fewer posts, less activity, creating a snowball effect until the forum died. I said before I'd be surprised if the forum was still active a few months after IMDB closed down and I still see that as being a strong possibility. its the same few people on here who 75% of the posts, Most are unemployed losers who think they know everything. Been a month and people are already sick of it. I hear alot of people hoping IMDb will return. It had ever movie and tv show on the board. It drew just too many people . You cant compete with that

There's already a full replacement to IMDB: www.themoviedb.org/It has everything IMDB had, basically message boards to every movie, TV show and actor in existence. And IMDB2 is gonna nowhere. It's still pretty consistent. IMDB2 needs to try to create individual message boards to movies, TV shows and actors as well. I just went to themovieorg and signed up. I am not impressed - although some of the movie pages are cool, and find this site far easier to navigate. I clicked onto their General Discussions page and saw a thread - started by a notorious troll from the IMDB, which dissed this site. I have known this moderator since IMDB forum days, consider him an online friend, and I will not be going back to themoviedb.org. I am going to give IMDB2 my best shot and sincerely hope it succeeds and grows stronger and stronger with every day. TMDB keeps changing and changing to fit and bring even more users, many ex-IMDB members. The site is going to be huge. Who's that troll from IMDB you've seen posting on TMDB? And not posting on TMDB because of some troll makes absolutely no sense. Just ignore him.

^ i hope not. the interface on tmdb is terrible. there's no genre subforum directory or anything. this place is much more organized and user-friendly, it's easier to find/talk about specialized topics.

I might me moving on if this is the best numbers you can get on here while the millions from IMDB twisting the wind in 1 month. Already getting boring talking to the same 5 freaking people who dont have a job per each board on here.. This experiment is starting to look more and more like a failure.

Maybe the reddit is better. The layout at Reddit is very user-unfriendly. And if you think the people on here are "unemployed", Reddit is troll central for feisty people who love to pick spats with others. Good luck with that! There's over 2,700 registered users on here. The issue is that many people seem to just browse/lurk rather than actively participate.

You hope not what? They are changing and upgrading TMDB on a daily basis. It's probably gonna be the next IMDB. But then IMDB is gonna get the message boards back sooner or later.

Reddit is a legendary garbage.
And IMDB2 is just on its early stage. Take calm.
