I remember wanting to try green eggs and ham. And we ended up making some in school! I had a collection Six by Seuss, and the last two stories were The Grinch, and The Lorax, and it was so weird to go from fun and festive to dark and dreary, so in my mind I would always look at the Onceler's home and think of all the places you could put the Christmas decorations from Whoville to make the place look better.

I quite often think about most books I've read after I've finished reading them; and during.
I suppose I'd have to go with 'The Hobbit'.
That conjured up some really great images, and I was living in a pretty rural place in England at the time, so it really resonated with my locality.

Pet Sematary by Stephen King. I was 12. I still remember 26 years later that it was winter, and I was playing ice hockey with my friends. During the game I thought about the events of that book, and that I would rather be home alone reading it.

It was the second book I ever read, a Hardy Boys book. I was seven years old at the time, don't judge me!
I was interrupted at a very exciting moment by those annoying parents that put the lights out.

I can't say for certain, we're going back a long way, but I think it might have been The Phantom Tollbooth.

"The Hobbit" - This got me hooked on books. IĀ“ve read it maybe 2-3 times and "The Lord of the Rings"-trilogy must be around 6-7 times now. It was some time ago now since the last time though.

Of a fictional nature, probably Charlotte's Web. I say "probably" because my first (of many) encounters with it came courtesy of my 3rd Grade teacher, who read it aloud to us in class over a period of several weeks. It was the first time I remember crying over something that happened in a book. The first non-fiction book I remember thinking of even when I wasn't reading it was a Time-Life "coffee table" tome titled The World We Live In (1955). I should say I looked at the pictures a bit more than I read the text (although I was reading by then, with my elder sister helping me with words like "pteranodon"), but then I was only about four; I was not much bigger than the book itself.
